Visit us at Motherhood after WLS !
Mom to 8 ~ Adelyn Grace arrived July 8, 2010!
I had HAP, they paid for my RNY (with a $1000 co-pay) and they also paid for my tummy tuck (no co-pay). You just have to go through their process and use Henry Ford, and have patience. The main thing is not to get discouraged at any point, and just do what they ask you do, as none of it is unreasonable. Good Luck, you will be in good hands with Henry Ford and HAP will be just fine.
Hi Lynne, Welcome.
I am also pre-op and have HAP. It depends on your HAP plan wether or not you'll have to pay the $1,000 co-pay. I am retired from GM and they have the rider that states I don't have the co-pay. You'll probably want to call HAP to see. I didn't have any trouble getting approved, only one appeal letter was needed from my doctor. I'm not quite 100 pounds overweight, but do have several co-morbidities that qualify me. I was approved in November or December and still have not met with my surgeon (Dr. Genaw) at Henry Ford.
What HAP family are you through? Henry Ford, Beaumont, St. Johns??? That may make a difference, I'm not sure. It is a long process, and we all want it done NOW, but the longer you wait, the more time you have to change your mind. Which may be good if you're not 100% sure this is for you. Good Luck and welcome aboard the journey of a lifetime.
