Hump Day Java!

Thanks Brenda.  I can totally relate. My fiance (he is from Chelsea) eats very healthy and when we first got together with our kids, his kids would eat veggies and  most anything you sat in front of them, although his daughter had a huge weight problem and has just been thru WLS in Dec.  But they would eat salad, veggies, fruit, etc....my kids....I think the only veggie they new of was corn! LOL

The only problem with my son getting WLS now is my insurance requires you to be 18 .  So I told him this summer we'd start going to our PCP for his 6-mo supervised diet and see where it takes us so he'll be ready when he turns 18 next Feb.

I think when I divorced in 2003, the kids also turned to food for comfort too, so that didn't help.  I was telling my daughter this weekend that maybe she could follow the pre-op diet I did and then kind of eat like a WLS patient even though she hasn't had surgery.   She's the type that needs to see quick results.  She's tried WW and Adkins.  I just want to help her.

I'm there with you too Nan.  My two sons (29 & 26) have weight problems too.  The younger one mostly.  They're really junk food junkies, as am I.  I wish I had grown up eating healthy too.  maybe that would have changed the way I raised my kids.

I just want to say...that as a child, we did not eat fast food, sugary foods, junk food, etc.  My mom was a stay at home mom most of my life.  We sat down at the dining room table for 3 meals a day (most of the time).  She was a member of the local co-op, so we ate organic, natural, etc. etc.( my mom was ahead of her time!).  So, I LEARNED how to eat properly.  My mom had a weight problem until I was about 12 or so.  She then did nutri-system (which was nothing then like it is now).  She lost a lot of weight eating salad and chicken.  My oldest sister never had a weight problem.  My other sister and I have.  My brother doesn't have a weight problem, either.  So, I think genetics plays more of a role than anything.
With that being said, I started working at McD's at 16.  I'm sure that didn't help my weight issues as I became an adult.

Morning all

Its been a busy one.  Two meeting done and over with for the week.

My office has been really tense this week and it is driving me nuts.   My boss being a State fan was up late driving home Monday, so he was at work yesterday with 4 hours of sleep - man was the afternoon long.  He is still grumpy, but better today.  Feels like something is brewing again with either lay offs or transfers.   He has connections that give  him heads up and then sits and stews about it.

QOTD:  That is a very hard question for me.  If I had to pick one thing I would say getting married the second time for the wrong reason.  My biological clock was ticking and I wanted a baby.  I love my husband, but am not in love with my husband, if that makes sense.    But that is a whole other can of worms to open up.

I am lucky that i had my surgery early enough in my son's life( he was almost 4) that he is developing good eating habits.  We are still working on expanding his veggies, but we take small steps at a time.  I buy him 100 cal packs of cookies and snacks.  He asked me what 100 calories were the other day.   I explained it to him, and told him for a snack, 100 calories is all we need.   It was funny to hear him later tell his dad that when dad  was eating a huge plate of chips.  He also is my walking companion.  He walks 2 miles at night when I go.

Have a great day

Afternoon.....

Did the coffee protein, trying to work on water.

QOTD?  Well I wish I would have listened to my Momma....lol.  Stayed in school (college) - I was so distracted by the BF.  She told me I didn't have time for a BF and of course I thought she was so wrong.  I joined the Air Force, got sworn in and had my leave date.  Met my husband and never went.  I wish I wouldn't have married so young - 21 (just a baby).  I do wonder what my life would have been if I had gone to the Air Force.  I do believe things happen for a reason though.  Lots of changes in my life now so....we'll see I guess.

Well, I started off good this morning with a CarbMaster yogurt.  Then I had errands to run and ended up pulling into White Castle for 4 cheeseburgers.  Now I'm paying for those onions!  Remember, I'm pre-op so I'm still in the last supper stage.  Last night I got twin lobster tails at the Brewery on Hayes Rd for $18.95.  A real bargin and they were absolutely delish...  Oh sorry.  I think post-op I can still have lobster and shrimp steamed, broiled or barbqued right?  Good source of protien?

I might do over my career and become an RN.  I fell into my job with GM and didn't really make a conscious decision to work there.  It was really good to me for 32 years, and now in retirement I hope it continues to be good to me.

Jani,

Yes you can still have lobster and shrimp post op.  Shrimp is one of my main staples now.  I also like crab clusters/claws.  Jus****ch the bbq sauce because they are loaded with sugar.  You dont want to be hit with a dumping episode at a restaurant.  Play it safe, and use butter or cheese lol...

Hey Ms. Cheese

I thought of you on my lunch hour.  I had to run to Walmart and pick up a few things.  Borden had a display set up of their new cheese singles - one just for you - bacon cheese.

Looked like there were real bacon pieces.

Pam,

That sounds like a slice of Melted Heaven between two lightly grilled pieces of bread.  Just so you know, I CAN be bribed.  If you want to buy your way into my Cabinet, I, Mayor McCheese will guarantee your appointment.

And thank you for your support.

Good Evening,
I started the day with skim milk.  Today was my day off so I ran errands all day and enjoyed the sunshine.

QOTD:  The only thing I think I would do over is spend more time with my grandparents, listened to their stories and would have told them more often how much I loved them.

Have a great evening,

Kristy
