I asked Wanda that same question at the class.  She said mostly, if he can see that you're making the effort and making some progress he'll go ahead and schedule the surgery.  I call every Tuesday to see if he has any cancellations for my first consult.  I'm not scheduled until 4-22 and I'm finding it really hard to be patient.  Did he have you lose 5% of your weight?  I've heard that's what he usually requires.  I've tried some protien shakes and the two I tried were actually pretty good.  By chance was that the way you were trying to lose your weight?  Let me know what worked, because I'm probably a month behind you.  I'll be watching your progress.

I hate to admit this and it is gross, the answer is to chew gum and spit. Weight lifters and wrestlers learned long ago that they can lower their weight, for weigh ins, before a match by chewing gum and spitting into a cup. Three or four hours of doing this without drinking anything they can shed 5 to up to 8 lbs of fluid weight. Now that makes them slightly dehydrated so they rehydrate by drinking water after they are weighed. The reason they do this is to qualify for a weight class and have a slight weight advantage. I don't know if I really recommend this though. It is not a healthy thing in my eyes. But 4 lbs in 3 days is possible with an all protein shake (5 shakes a day) diet. Avoid any salt or sugars and most of all no carbs.

If your going to do all protien shakes, make sure that you are taking a fiber suppliment with them to keep things "flowing".

Best of luck
