I need to vent

I am sooooo pissed. As some of you may recall I'm having some issues w/ my abdomen. A chest x ray showed a mass in my upper right quadrant and my Internist thinks it's either a hernia or my diaphragm has shifted. So she ordered a CT of my chest and abdomen. Well my ins. is balking about the abdominal portion and wants to talk to the Dr., so she said "oh just do the chest portion, I'm sure it will go low enough to see the mass", well I don't like that idea. I think my surgeon will want to see the abdomen, so me being me I called the surgeons office. They told me he was in surgery all day, but they agreed with me, they think he (the surgeon) would want to see the whole abdomen and told me to call the Internist back and tell her that the surgeon would want to see the whole abdomen. Well the Internist's office said if the surgeon wanted to see the abdomen he'd have to order it and get it authorized. Well....now the surgeon's office is backing down and saying well, maybe he won't want to see it, or well, he may not want to order it w/o seeing you.....(mind you my CT is tomorrow!!) I asked her if she could talk to the surgeon between cases and see what he wants to do, and again she hemmed and hawed! I called at 3:00 this afternoon and she has left early for the day! ARGGGHH!

I'm just pissed that no one is willing to take that next step for me. I know they can do it, I'm a medical office manager. I've done everything in a medical office besides see the patient. I always go out of my way for my patients, help them in any way I can. In my opinion that's what my job is, to help take care of them. I'm just very disappointed in mankind at the moment!

what **** poor service. I would cancel the CT, get a new surgeon and make sure to write a letter explaining why I decided to leave (poor communications by front office) If this is the kind of service you get when you are awake.......what will you get when you are under?

Dang! someone needs to learn about bedside manner, huh? Hopefully one of the doctors will come through for you tomorrow morning before the CT.

I hoping Krause comes through for me tomm. but they'd have to get auth from the ins co. which I'm sure they could do, but we'll see what they do.
I'm more disappointed in my Internist who was so worried last week, she made me make an appt. w my GI, call my surgeon, sch a CT...now that she has to make a phone call, well.....not all that important now!

I'd be pissed at the Internist too. Get you all worked up and worried and can't make a phone call. It's not every like the Internist would have to make the actual call. Most they'd have to get on the phone after a office personal did the hanging on hold. You must really like your Internist or you give them the

Actually, I don't know my Internist very well, I've only met her a few times, I switched over to her right before my surgery (rny) and since then I don't really have a need to see a Dr. anymore (isn't' that nice). But trust me when I go back and see her in a couple of weeks we will be having a talk. If she doesn't want to be there for me, I won't be her patient, and I will tell her that! If she had e-mail capabilities she would have heard from me yesterday.

I was very disappointed in her.
