to cut or not to cut

Im having RNY next month, I wanted to know if anyone here cut their hair short before going in for surgery?  I am thinking bc of the thiniing hair thing. I know my hair will thin bc it usually falls out with stress and being on these shakes it has already started.  So if I cut my hair short will it look even more thin? or will keeping it shoulder length make it look thin. Also my hair is super wavy so I usually have it stacked in back and the front cut at an angle.  But I am thinking a pixi.  let me know your own experiences.

My vote is cut is short before surgery.  It can't hurt, and then if you don't have a problem with thinning (I did, and no, it wasn't due to lack of protein) you can always grow it back.

PS- when your hair is short it makes it easier to see how thin your face and neck are getting!  Post-op bonus!

I love the wedge look!  And its easy to care for too.  I would say take off what you're comfortable with to start because you can always go shorter.  I had my hair very short, kinda spikey on top for my first 6 months, then I grew it out.  I didn't have any issues with hair loss though.  You aren't guaranteed you will or you wont, its a wait and see thing.

I love this style, maybe without the bangs?  Like all one length in front?  Maybe?

My vote is to wait until after surgery.  The surgery alone is tramautic enough without throwing in the shock of a short haircut.  You can always wait to see how your hair thins, or not, and then take care of it when that happens.  I got my hair cut before surgery and I wish I hadn't.
All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press
on to your destination.

I think Im gonna go shorter stack in the back, the curls will make it easy to wear messy.  The front I will have a more sharp angle and that way I can streighten it and have a funky sassy look.  thanks for the votes!!!!

I know you posted a few days ago.  I don't know if you already cut your hair.  However, I would wait until about 3 weeks after surgery to do it.  Most people get real depressed after surgery, because of the hormones going crazy, they also get a little stir crazy.  So if you wait, it will feel like a make over.  For me, I couldn't wait to feel normal again.  It was a relief just to put my contacts back in.
