Morning Michiganders!
Having your wake-up cup this morning? My black and decaf tastes awesome this morning. Didn't stay up for the sweet-16 game with the Spartys and Jay Hawks. Must have been a great come-back-from behind game for the Spartys.
What's up today? Going to "Mom's Show" this morning at the Delta Plex in GR with my expectant daughter. Hope it's not too crowded......
QOTD-What is the strangest diet you've ever been on? The other day they had a piece on TV on fad diets through the decades, like the cabbage soup diet. I have to admit that I've tried a couple in my life long struggle with weight. The strangest I tried was a totally liquid, protein only diet. I lost 70 pounds. As soon as I got to my goal, I quickly regained it all, plus more.
I know that this time around I will be successful as it's not about dieting, it's about lifestyle!!!!
Well, better hit the shower!
Have a great Saturday!

Good Morning Deb!

I bet you're excited to go baby shopping!  I always enjoyed that part of being pregnant.  I haven't had anything to drink yet, but I bought some c.l. raspberry green tea for later.  And as you all suspected, I had a non traditional s/f ice cream bar for breakfast.  yeah, tons of protein right???  For me, its about the texture of foods right now.  And that gives me the crunch I crave.  Its ok, I have a bunless burger on deck for snack   Oh yeah, yesterday I accomplished a goal I set for myself -  to run my pup 3x per day.  Crap, I was exhausted at the end of the day.  Each ride was approx 30 mins.  and my arse hurts from the seat of my bike!  Do you think anyone would notice if I sit on my feather pillow next time????

QOTD:  To be honest, I never had the stick-to-it-ness for fad diets.  Plus, being a diabetic limited my options, ya know, if I wanted to live and such.  I did nutrisystem for a while til I went broke, then kinda adapted atkins as my daily life.  it controlled my b/s better.  Needless to say, this Rny diet of mostly protein has been a miracle for my insulin requirements.  I have dropped my dose to about a 1/4 of what I used to take before surgery.

Take Care Deb and have fun today!!!

Just curious.  Were you a juvenile diabetic?  I have adult onset diabetes and I'm hoping to get off insulin after my surgery.  I understand a lot of people are able to do so.  Right now I'm really out of control because of my eating habits.  My A1C was 9.6.  I'm not happy about that at all.
Did you look at that gadget for the back wheel of your bike to run Leo on?  A friend of mine has one and loves it.

Yes Jani, I am a Type I.  So I consider myself extremely lucky to not need so many shots.  The last couple of weeks I have had some major scares with insulin shock.  Me and the doc are adjusting my doses again.   My a1c was 5.8 at my last visit.  I worry about your a1c being elevated, that's when nerve damage occurs.  Be vigilant.  My friend was diagnosed with type II a few wks before his Rny and after was able to quit the oral meds he had been on.  And no sign of it since.  It really is a blessing IMHO.

I saw the device Shay posted but it was $50, I was hoping to hit some of the pet supplies stores locally to find a better deal.  Where did your friend buy theirs?

Morning all,

Got my regular joe going this moring.  I have a few messages to reply to, butI will get caught up by tomorrow.

My day at work yesterday was nuts.  I think all the higher levels just realized that Tuesday was quarter close, and requests for information was overwhelming.  I was so glad when 5 pm rolled around, but the day did go rapidly.

Today is my errand day, finishing my coffee, hit the shower and off and running.  Library, used clothing store, pharmacy, grocery store.  Can't wait for the garage sales to start.  My 5 year old i****ting a growth spirt again, and will need summer clothes.

QOTD - Fad diets never did much for me.  I lost weight on Form-u-3 and mostly on Weigh****chers.  I needed someone to make sure I followed through.

Have a great day

Pam

Good Morning!
I'm starting with water this morning.  Getting my shoes on for a quick walk before I start all my weekend chores.
QOTD- Has to be the grapefruit diet, first I hate grapefruit so should have been a red flag right there.
Have a wonderful day - looks like the rain will hold off until this evening, going out to enjoy the sun while it here.

Morning Deb!
I am eating an egg sandwich and wondering what posseses my son to get up at 5am no matter how late he went to bed.

My Spring cleaning is on hold for a bit because now  I have some errands to run.  It seems like that's all I do....go to work, change diapers, and run errands!

I am the world's pickiest eater, so I never could do any fad diets.  I did do Atkins, but ended up sobbing and almost having a nervous breakdown because there isn't anything I wanted to eat.  I don't really like any meat except for chicken, so even though you could eat a lot of it, I wasn't a happy camper.  I did lose 40 lbs. but gained it back within 3 weeks of stopping Atkins.  Besides, God meant for us to eat fruits and vegetables and grains!

Looks like the sun is shining here, I hope it lasts until this evening!

Have a good day!

Good Morning!

Not a frequent poster, but thought I'd chime in today.

I'm drinking my coffee with vanilla protein in it for breakfast, as usual.

Plans for today are going to Gaylord to my MIL's 70th birthday party.  That's not until later this afternoon.

QOTD:  The grapefruit diet in the 70's.  My mother did these fad diets, and of course the rest of us and to do it too (especially if we expressed the desire to lose a few lbs).  She wasn't fat but thought she was....  I think there was a watermelon diet at one time too.

Well I'm glad you posted today!  I love this board and especially the people on this thread.  I learn something every day on how to make this WLS a life style change.  To date I'm over whelmed with trying to get all the right stuff at the right time.  It consumes all my time and I was wondering how all the working "foke" did it.

I never thought of something as simple as vanilla protein IN the coffee.  My dilemma every morning was do I eat first and than wait 1/2 hour for my coffee or go ahead and drink my coffee and wait 1/2 hour for breakfast.
