I personally havn't heard of any well known post bariatric plastic surgeons who operate out of the U of M, however they are a huge medical center and for me, very convenient. Has anyone used them, can you recommend a surgeon?
From my other experiences at this medical center I know the doctors can be brilliant, but also very endeared of their own intelligence, to the point where they can be condescending and not receptive...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I haven't had bariatric plastic surgery there but I did have my breast reduction!!

Dr. Cederna was my doctor and I absolutely loved him!!! Even with being over weight he was not judgemental and was all about my needs!!!! He is does spealize in reconstructive procedures.

I hope this helps!!!

Finally!  Something I can answer!

I had a TT on 2/11 with Dr. Amy Alderman.  I love her.....she's great.  I had a consult with another doc there and I couldn't stand him.  Won't mention any names, but I am really glad I went with my gut (no pun intended) and chose Alderman.

Dr. Alderman is very honest and very "aware" of how you want to look after surgery.  But, when doing your research you will find that different doctors do things differently.  My TT experience was very different from two of my friends that had theirs done at another popular center.

I chose U of M because I totally trust the health system as a whole.  All of my docs are there, and I wanted to make sure that I was in a top facility "just in case".  I wouldn't have surgery anywhere else.

One down side to this.  The nursing care for both my RNY and my plastics sucked.  All of the nurses and techs were very nice, but I had to have my mom stay with me for both procedures because you would go hours without seeing anyone and I really did need help getting up to pee and walk around.  They just seem too overworked there to give you a lot of attention.  For me, that was just a minor thing, because I used to work at the U so I know the patient load is a lot per nurse.  Having someone there with me gave me all that I needed.  I knew that if there were any complications that I would be taken care of, and that's what was important to me.
