Got my Info Packet from Henry Ford!!!
Hey Kell,
Was it the white packet you got? Just wait until you go to the orientation/education class. They give you a big blue three ring binder that's just chocked full of info. Way too much to read at one time. After the orientation you'll have to go in for bloodwork, chest x-ray, and EKG (they include the orders for this in your packet). You have to carry these results with you to your first consult with the surgeon. This is the point I'm at, waiting for my first consult with Dr. Genaw. Then I understand he wants you to lose a certain number of pounds and come back to see him and then they'll give you a surgery date. I'm not positive about all that, but I think you get the surgery date at the second consult. It would be nice to get it at the first consult. This waiting is a pain in the big behind! I've been in the process for about 4 months right now. My first appt with Dr. Genaw isn't until 4-22. I'll keep you informed of my progress.
BTW This is a wonderful website. I don't often go to the main message board because I like hearing and talking to people here in Michigan. If you get a chance go to Pam T's profile and check out her book. I don't know how one person can do so much for others. She's a wealth of knowledge, as are the others on this site. I really appreciate the kindness and advise everyone has given me.
Good luck in your journey. Have patience....

Welcome! You sound very excited.
I kind of went thru the process backwards because of my insurance. I never had an orientation at all. I called my center, which was Hurley, and the person in insurance was wonderful and told me step by step what to do over the phone. I had to go to my PCP and fill out the preliminary info, get approval to do psych and than send every thing back to insurance again. Only than I could met with the surgeon and that was when I got my first packet of info to read over and over.

I am so excited about this site. I too have chosen Henry Ford for my surgery. I went to my orientation earlier this month. And like many others, I have read it over and over. I look forward to all the wonderful information everyone has to share.
Has anyone had surgery at the Henry Ford in Clinton Twp/Warren? What about with Dr. Marshall or Schnieder?
May God lead us and bless us as we journey together...
