Hi Bev,
If you find a less expensive source, please share it.  I'm scheduled for RNY surgery 4/1.  I agee with you on wanting to do it right, but I want to have a few $ left at the end of the month too.

How was the first week after surgery?  Right now I'm on the pre-op diet.  I didn't know I could live on this little of food ( 600 too 800 cals).  After the surgery, did you still feel hungery all the time?

Some days its just not worth waking up and chewing through the leather straps

Sweetie..I won't lie...the first week after surgery..you are always FULL.......wondering how the heck you are gonna get all your protein in and water...but you will learn to sip sip sip..I had serveral boxes of there Cream of Chicken soup..;I think that was the best...and you could even taste the chicken at times..lol.....also I had there jello...high in potein and bought the fat free whiped topping in a can........yummy......then by the 2nd week........i got sick of the soup and knew I had to get it down...it will get easier......but I have to stay boring..I cheated two times when my son had pizza and I grab a piece of pepperoni and chewed on it..and then spit it out..just had to have some flavor...but be careful..it might not agree with your new tummy......I wish you the best of luck with your surgery..and I hope your recovery will be fast..I feel I am 90% back to normal after two weeks.....You will love Dr. Foote........Looking forward to moving forawrd to the purred foods...oh Yes I am down 20lbs..which I am haapy with...as for the cheaper products...I am still working on that......Hope I can find them......Again Best wishes to you.....Hugs Bev

Hi Bev! You can definately get your vits anywhere-Walmart, Meijer(they do buy 1 get 1 all the time). I don't know what vits, specifically RNY'ers take??!! I know a lot of people take the Equate(Walmart) version of Centrum Complete for their multi. I was perscribed prenatals(for life) by the surgeons office. For me, that's super cheap w/my ins. I pay $5 for a 3 months supply. If you have specific vitamin questions, pm vitalady here on OH-she is an RNY'er but also has her own vitamin & supplement store. Vitalady.com. She's unbelievably helpful & will make sure you're taking the right kind for the best absorption!!

As far as product goes, you'll be adding more foods in over the next few weeks & won't be needing very much product, & eventually, none(unless you want to).

Hey Bev,

Tomorrow you'll be moving to regular food with a protein supplement per day.  They will give you a ton of recipes for protein things.  I love the noodleless lasagna.  I make it about 3 times a week...still!  I did purchase the unjury protein powder from GHP.  I have used the vanilla a lot and the strawberry - I can't eat chocolate or else I would have bought that too.

My 6 week check up is tomorrow morning.  Maybe I'll run into you there!

Take care,
Kerri

OK I ordered some samples of the unfury protein powder.  I tried the vanilla, it was really bad.  My question is are you suppose to make it in a shake or just add it to other stuff?  I put in the sample in 8oz of milk and it is really runny nothing like the shakes they had me on pre surgery.

Can you give me a little help with this stuff if you use it a lot.  I bought alot and need to know what to do with it.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I am not real sure...but I believe that you can add that to food to get your protein..I haven"t bought any yet..but a friend of mine suggested Whey..to add to food..no taste to it but use it as a supplement  for your protein...Hope that helps ...Hugs Bev

You can try AnyWhey unflavored protein powder. You can add this to any food, even bake or cook with it. It is tasteless (kinda smells like Bisquick).

Some places will send you samples if you want to try some protein powder samples, but really, you should get most of your protein once you're on solids from food. If you want samples, Vitalady will give you some, or bariatriceating.com.
