Good morning all. Starting the day in a bad mood.  I am secretary-unpaid, voluntary. of a professional group I belong to and the president just blasted me for not including her name on a list of members.  It was purely an accident and I had sent the list our for her approval prior to the meeting but she didn't respond. I am thinking of being childish and resigning, but don't want to overreact.

Anyway, good morning to all

I want a new fridge badly-i have a bungee cord on the door to hold condiments in place.  but I can't justify buying one when the thing still works, and a new fridge would also mean a new stove, dishwasher, etc.  Mine is at least 16 ears old, so when I t conks out I will celebrate.

I BUY furnace filters frequently-but manage to change them about 4 times a year instead of monthly as recommended.

Sounds like my old fridge.  We had a screen door spring on it as it didn't seat properly and it lasted 10 more years.  It never did die, we gave it to someone as a extra to keep on their porch for beer

Good Morning all,

A bit slow this morning, maybe it is because I didn't have any coffee this am.   Had some spiced cider that was S/F.  It was ok, but not my coffee.

I am a little achy from doing the 5k yesterday, my tendonitis in my feet flaired, and my arthritis in my knee is yelling at me, but I got a 1/2 mile in on my break this morning in spite of it.

Interesting house questions  -
1. we have a service contract for our furnace and air conditioner.  They come and take care of the filters for us.
2.  The fridge has been around for at least 10 years, and runs ok, but I want to replace but  want to do the whole kitchen at once, so I am hoping it holds out another year or two.
3.  Septic - we have a unique one which has a double  tank system.  We have it done every 3-5 years, but since we have 2 tanks, it costs twice as much.
4.  We are slowly replacing everything, our furnace is about 10 years old,  welll is about 4 years old, central air is about 5, we had new windows put in last summer and doing insulation this year.  Hopefully in the next couple we can do siding.  The house was built by my FIL, and he never did maintenance on it, so what we do, tends to cost us a pretty penny.  The house is about 65 years old, and we had to finish 2 of the bedrooms when we moved in 5 years ago.  My MIL bedroom still isn't finished, but she doesn't care.    Can I say Money Pit?

Good Morning!

Been a busy morning already with 2 meetings done, now I need to tackle email and voicemail.  Don't ya just love Mondays?

1) how often do you change your furnace filters?
Usually 2x per year.  Once at the beginning of winter when I turn stuff on, and once mid-year sometime.

2) how long has your current/last refrigerator lasted before needing to be replaced?
My fridge is 9 years old and still working.

3) for those with septic systems, how often do you have them cleaned out?
I'm on city sewer

4) what's the one item in your house that you do absolutely no maintenance on, but should?
I've wanted to install rain gutters since I bought the house 9 years ago and haven't.  One of these days I'll get around to it, I guess.

It's almost afternoon, but I'm here!  I had my coffee early this AM and about 1/2 my water for the day.  Food on the other hand...I've had 1/2 a ham sandwich and an english muffin.  I have an OB appt this Friday and I'm afraid he may be "upset" with me because I've lost nearly 6 pounds of the 10 pounds I've gained this pregnancy.  I don't know why.  I eat ALL THE TIME...seriously....and not very WLS friendly stuff either.  I eat pizza, thin crust mostly, about 3 nights a week.  I know my calories are way higher than they normally are, but I'm hungry more often and eat SOMETHING every couple hours.  Everything else is fine, other than that.

1) how often do you change your furnace filters?  NEVER- We don't have a furnace....electric baseboard heat.
2) how long has your current/last refrigerator lasted before needing to be replaced?  It's uglier than sin because it used to be white and I painted it black but all the paint is chipping off...but it works just fine and it's 12 years old.   Can't really justify the new fridge I want at $1600 if the old one is still working fine.
3) for those with septic systems, how often do you have them cleaned out? We've been in the house for 9 years and have never had it cleaned out, but the house is 30 plus years old, and I'm not sure if it's ever been cleaned.
4) what's the one item in your house that you do absolutely no maintenance on, but should?  Um, I guess the septic is one thing we've done no maintenance on.  We've replaced a lot of things in our house, so by default they've gotten some "maintenance".

Afternoon Michigan,

My thighs are killing me, they woke me up a few times last night.  Boy I miss Advil!.  This new workout routine that I'm doing is going to kill me .

1) how often do you change your furnace filters? once a year (we have this huge filter system)
2) how long has your current/last refrigerator lasted before needing to be replaced? Ours usually last 10-12 years, the current one is only about 7 years old
3) for those with septic systems, how often do you have them cleaned out? we've only had it cleaned out once in the 9 years we've been in the house (the house is 15 yrs old now), but they said it was no where near full.  We do try to use rid x every month or two
4) what's the one item in your house that you do absolutely no maintenance on, but should? We do maintenance on everything, not as fast as it should be on some things, but I make sure he does it!

Have a great day everyone!

We were doing it at 5 years but, the guy told us it wasn't anywhere in need of it.
4) what's the one item in your house that you do absolutely no maintenance on, but should?

1) how often do you change your furnace filters?
We have custom made washable filters so we don't have to change them.  We just wash them every couple of months.
2) how long has your current/last refrigerator lasted before needing to be replaced?
The fridge came with the house, brand new---5 years ago.  It's still working great.
3) for those with septic systems, how often do you have them cleaned out?
We have public sewer system.
4) what's the one item in your house that you do absolutely no maintenance on, but should?
The dryer vent...we take the lint out of the filter each time but everyone should clean out the lint from down inside, under the filter.  My mom used a yardstick with masking tape and would shove it down in there to remove as much lint as she could.  Also, the heat duct system...we should be having it cleaned out annually but have never done it.
