BCBS of MI (Waive6Months)

I think the change is regarding the age of the patients.

My surgeons office says that because I am a bmi of 55 that my 6 months is waived.  I meet the criteria and I plan to have the VSG done because the doctor thinks it will be less risky to do that as a first step and then if I need to continue to lose weight then he can convert that into an RNY.

I have concerns with BCBS because they do no pre-authorize but I guess if my surgeon and doctor submit the correct paperwork everything will be ok.

One thing that has bugged me about BCBS is that they will not send me a criteria list.  They could tell it to me over the phone but I don't know if I wrote it down right or not as fast as they were talking.  I think I did but I dont understand why they wont give me a printed copy of the criteria?

I don’t know what BCBS of MI wouldn’t give you a copy of the criteria. That is bazaar. I would ask to speak with a Supervisor. I have several copies. Lol I called back to make sure they were giving me the correct info. I asked for it to be faxed and they did. Then they would stick the original in the mail.
