Thursday Morning Coffee
What's in your cup this morning? My usual decaf and black. Watching another gorgeous sunrise this morning. Can you believe all this sunshine this month? This is so not Michigan, especially this side of the state. But, I won't complain as nothing makes you feel better than sunshine.
QOD-Have you ever met anyone famous and who? If you haven't, who would you want to meet? There is so much locker room talk of Matt Giraud from American Idol. So many people have heard him play or have gone to school with him at WMU. My son frequents the piano bar that he played at. Famous person? I met Ross Perot three years ago. I was working for his company back then. I almost ran him over in the cafeteria and he came to our meeting. He is such a down-to-earth person that you'd love to have over for dinner. Such a wonderful sense of humor........

Have a great day
I'm drinking......you guessed it! Water! and at work! I'm full of surprises this morning, huh?
Weird thing happened to me.........last night I had to take back a pair of jeans I bought on Saturday. They were too big! I was wearing one pair of jeans prior to surgery. The new ones I bought are 2 sizes smaller! I was thrilled. Then, this morning I was getting ready for work. I threw on a pair of "dress" pants that I haven't worn since before plastic surgery, and couldn't pull them up past my thighs. They were like 2 sizes too small. So what's up with that? Ugh! I hate getting dressed in the morning! Why can't we wear pj's to work?
QOTD: I met Ted Nugent when I was in high school because I got in trouble at a party with his daughters. I met Tony Hawk (skateboard guy) with my son years ago. Also a few of the Tigers at the Fanfest. I think that's it.
Have a good day!
I am so sports-illiterate that I thought he was Sparky Anderson-you know, an old guy with silver hair?
I can't think of anyone I am dying to meet-I wouldn't know what to say to a celeb, so might as well give the experience to someone who could really enjoy it.
QOTD -- Yeah, I guess I've met famous people. But who they are famous TO is the key, I think. I do functions for high-brow folks through my job and there are always big name politicians, sports stars (lots of Red Wing and Lions players) and top CEOs and executives milling around. Half the time I don't even know who they are. I've seen a few stars in passing -- like Whitney Houston at the airport -- but I'm not all that impressed by celebrities.
My Recipe Index is packed full of yumminess!

hi deb and other michiganders!!! i used to live in saginaw and i moved to ohio almost a year ago and sometimes look at the michigan board...saw your post here and had to respond...LOL
your QOD is what got me to post here...yes i have met some famous people in my lifetime...in fact i am living with one right now...rick is/was a BMX bike rider in his younger days...its crazy when we are out and someone recognizes him and wants to chat about his tricks he did on that bike. he still has the bike here but he isn't allowed to ride it anymore due to a pinched nerve in his leg and also a bulging disc in his back. i have also met ric flair the wrestler and have his autograph too...also met vince gill...what a nice guy he is!!! leo days i have met several times (elvis tribute) and he just gets better and better as time goes on for him!!! there are more but my having CRS i can't think of who they are right now...LOL
thanks for listening to me rattle on here in your post....have a great day!!!
hugs
Just finished my cup of Creme' Caramel coffee with protein and am doing the sf kool aid thing.
QOTD: this is one I can enjoy posting because as some of you know I was a professional radio DJ since 1984. I also spent a few years doing news up in the Alpena area so I got to meet a few state and national big wigs. I have pics of some of the people I've met with me, and some I don't. I'll just list them the best I can in chronilogical order:
Former Vice President Dan Quayle's wife, Marilyn (news interview)
Country Musicians/Arists: Billy Dean, Diamond Rio, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Reba, John & Audrey Wiggins, Bryan White, Chely Wright, Ty Herndon, LeRoy Parnell, Confederate Railroad, Wynonna Judd and her sister Ashley the actress, Russ Taff, Colin Raye and his entire band, John Micheal Montgomery (I use to live 12 miles from his hometown of Nicholasville, KY and was at the bar he performed at many times before he became a national recording artist, LeAnn Rimes.
Other musicians./Artists: Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from Aerosmith and the highlight of my radio career was meeting and spending the entire day with Richard Marx. That, alone was the pinnacle of my broadcast career because it was sooooooooo surreal. I have several photos of him and me and my former roomate and had him sign all my CD sleeves and it's all framed and hanging in the dining room.
Other than that, I can't think of anyone else...but in radio you get to go backstage a lot more than when you are a listener and although that wasn't why I got into radio, it was one of the perks.
I feel very lucky to have met Richard Marx because that was worth being in radio and nothing can ever take that away from me. It was truly a day to remember and I'll never forget it.
Have a beautiful day
