MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!!!

Wow, I feel like myself again!  I have to say, I can't believe tomorow I'll already be one week out.  Oh boy, day 3 was the absolute worst for me. but I must admit, each day gets better and better and today I feel like I have energy again!!

And I'm getting better at getting my water and protien in.

If you would have asked me on Wed or Thurs if I would do it all over again, I might have said no way, but today, I say 'in a heartbeat' !

I can't believe what a difference a few days makes!!

Have a great day everyone!

Nan

I had  surgery almost 16 months ago, however, my dh had it 9 days ago.  Today he realized that he's not 'superman'.  He finally felt "normal" yesterday and started doing allot  around the house.  Taking breaks of course.  But I told him to take it easy, but you know men... today he's been down,  can't really sleep (although he is taking his first nap now, at 5:30pm ), but he's exhausted, and he goes back to work tomm.  (He works at home on the comp. all day, he'll be fine, I did the same thing and had to take a shower and drive to my sitting job).

The moral of this story is remember, you just had surgery, give your body time to heal.  You'll get there, but take the time your body needs.

Congrats on getting to the looser bench.  We've made room for you.

Hi Edie!
Thanks for all your encourageing words!  I am going to try my best to rest this week and not overdo it because I go back to work on the 23rd.  I don't want to regret taking the naps and resting when I need it!   I realized today that just because I feel somewhat normal I still tire very easily....just folding a load of laundry and unloading the dishwasher made me want to sit down for a while - LOL.

But THANK YOU for the reply.  I am excited to be on the loser's bench now!!

Nan,
i had my surgery same day as you and i agree, thurs evening and fri were the worst for me.  tues is was on all the pain meds so that was nothing, then wed while at home i slept on and off all day.  thurs was the first day i really stayed awake and i tried doing a few things and by that night i hurt so bad and it lasted into friday.  yesterday i felt really good and took a ride with my mom out shopping for some exercise since it was raining here, and i felt good today.  but for some reason i have trouble going to sleep in my bed at night., it isn't the same as falling asleep on the couch.  the only time i take my lortab is when i go to bed, and it helps a little.

Also glad to hear about your protein and fluids too, yesterday was also the first day that i got it all in and same for today.  the only thing that sucks, is that i'm not feeling as full as i did earlier in the week and i actually get hungry.  is that normal?  I'm also getting so tired of just liquids.

anyway, keep on healing and feeling better.  we will lose the weight and feel great hopefully soon, lol...

RNY on 10/21/08 with

You need to determine if it is "head hunger", "bored hunger" or real hunger.  Honestly, I didn't feel hungry at all for a very long time.   I was on liquids only for a few days then soft foods - whi*****luded scrambled eggs, tuna fish with mayo, etc.  When you get on soft foods, I think you'll feel satisfied then.  And its amazing how good food tastes once you can eat it again!  Just remember to chew, chew chew.....

I will be 5 months out on Saturday and am only now starting to feel "real" hunger - where my pouchy is growling.  I still have to stop and determine if it is "head hunger" or "real hunger", then I have another protein drink.....

Oh BTW - how much protein (drinks) are you getting a day?  I started with 2 servings, then upped it to 3.  When you feel hungry a protein drink is the way to go - it will never hurt you.

Hi Nan!  Glad to hear your feeling better.

I would think all You RNY's would take longer to feel better.  I felt like crape until the 3rd day too.  I must be a big baby.
