Good Morning everyone!
What a gorgeous, brisk sunrise this morning. What's in your cup? mine's the usual black and decaf........
There's a St. Paddy's Day parade this morning downtown. St Paddy's day is one of my favorite holidays even though I'm not Irish by any means. So, I'm "honorary Irish."
QOD-Are you of Irish descent or an honorary Irish this time of year? If honorary, what heritage? I am second generation Dutch on my Dad's side and my mother was German (a war bride). Obviously no Irish for me, but my husband's grandmother was an "O'Flanaghan"
Top of the morning to you...

Top of the morning to ya' all. (That's a combination of Irish & Southern don't ya' know.. )

Nice ,cold, near freezing, skim milk  is in my cup used to wash down my Snickers Marathon Protein bar. So now I have 30 gms of protien to get my morning started.

QOD- When I finally was able to get some of my birth info 10 yrs ago (I am adopted) I was told  that my biological dad was I "hillbilly"  of Irish decent and that my bio mom was French, Scotch & English. So I guess I am a Heinz 57 but I can still celebrate St Paddy's Day with the best of  'em.  My adoptive parents were Irish through & through. Both sides came to US during the Irish potato famine. Hmm maybe that's why I like 'taters so much-wink...

Not sure what my day will be as I have a terrible case of cabin fever..  Would love to do a day trip somewhere warm but it would take more than a day to get to warm...

Make the best of whatever you do..

Morning

Just getting ready to make my muffin then head to work at the Vets.. Busy day today with a full schedule so it should be interesting.. Then heading off to Joanns with my friend to get some crafty stuff. I have tons of coupons to use.

I am irish.. My family name is Casey... My Grandfather was born here but his parents came over on the boat as they say... I have German mixed in there too... But I am way more proud to be irish. I even have a 4 leaf clover tattooed on my foot.. I love St Paddys Day... I love eating the corn beef and cabbage. My DH doesnt like cabbage and hates the smell so it is the one time a year I can cook it and he cant complain since it is my holiday!

I was thinking about going down to the parade in downtown Detroit tomorrow but it depends on how caught up we get in house stuff this weekend. We are still working on our bedroom and we are hoping to move it into the new room today or tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone! I hope Brenda, BM and Tina have a great time shopping this weekend and find some good deals at Birch Run.

Hey Suzanne, my adoptive mom's, mom was a Casey. I have tons of Casy cousins in the Detroit area. On that side of the fam there are also Phelan's, Murphy's & Dillon's. Adoptive dad's side is Nagle ( a county in S Ireland is named Nagle) he also had McCambridge and yes Mercedes McCambridge (THE VOICE in the move the Exorcist) was my adoptive dad's relative. Think my dad's mother's maiden name was McCambridge. Sadly they are all now resting in a litlte cemetary about 80 miles outside of Chicago so I can no longer get any furhter fam history.

Good Morning everyone.  I'm waiting for my car to warm up then I'm off to Birch Run for the day.

My son is marching in the Detroit parade tomorrow.  If you go, Suzanne, look for John Glenn High School.  My son is the skinny one playing the baritone (like a small tuba).  Personally, I think St. Pat's day is kind of dumb.  Just another excuse to get drunk.  I can do that any day, I don't need an excuse!  (Just kidding!)

I'm American.  My great grandparents were born here, so that's as far back as I go.

Hope you all have a good day.  I don't know how warm it's going to be.  I was scraping icy stuff off of my car, so who knows!

Top of the morning to you all too!

I love when people say "brisk", to me it means damn cold, but they don't want to admit it!  I remember once my Dad was in the pool and I asked him "how cold is it", he said brisk, I said, yeah that just means it's damn cold but you want me to come in too.  He cracked up, and said that was true!!  So since then, every time I see or hear the word brisk that's what I think!

Q:  My Mom was born and raised in Scotland (it's odd to think I'm 1st generation American for her), her Mom was from Scotland and her Dad was from Ireland.  My Dad is Cherokee and English.  When we were kid's we would say we were Scottish, English, Irish and Hillbilly!!!  Don't you just love kids!

I'm going out shopping today too.  I hope we're all successful in our quests for great clothes and bargains!  And I've gotta hit the park for a nice long hike.  Can't wait!

Hope you all have a great day.

Morning everyone. Being of Greek descent I am not at all Irish, but any people who can party and drink as hard as Greeks can are of with us, (from what I have been told the Irish can fill that requirement well). To all the Irish I say Opa! Enjoy St. Patties day, and a top of the morning to you.

I love St. Patrick's day too.  I am part Irish (moms side) and the other part German(dads side)  My grandfather used to sing, too rah loo rah loo rah, to me all the time when I was a little girl (50 years ago) and I remember those days fondly.  Still waiting for April 20 to meet w/my surgeon.

It is what it is.
If He brings you to it, He'll bring you through it...
