missing support groups

I have missed both my support groups this month.  The first was the Monday after surgery and I lost track of the time and didn't want to be late.  Found out from Pam I should have gone as it ran way over.

Last night I was headed up to Vassar and one of the goat went into labor.  My DH didn't want to leave her home alone.  She was a first time mom and it was good we stayed with her.

But, I really miss the groups and feel like a loser (and not the good Kind).  As least I have all you good folks here to talk too.

Hey girlie.... there's a meeting on  Monday.  Don't miss it!  :-)

Hurley Health and Fitness Center (corner of Saginaw and Hemphill).  Go in the main door and turn right... down the hall to the classroom on the left.  We'll be there waiting for you.  Well, I'll actually be late, so you'll probably beat me there.

See you then!
Pam

This is at a Hurley Health Center?  But this isn't a Hurley Support group right?  What do they do at this one?  What time does it start and usually get done?

Hurley Health and Fitness Center is the gym that's part of the whole Hurley family.  But the group meeting is not associated with Hurley Bariatric Center.  It's a peer-based group that is lead by another WLS patient.

We don't have a formal speaker like a normal support group meeting ... instead we go around the room and each person has a chance to introduce themselves and ask any questions or share any triumphs or whatever  you want.  Sometimes Jim has a specific thing he wants to talk about, or someone has a special story to share, but any presentation is kept to a minimum.  I'll be handing out some information about vitamins and answering questions at this month's meeting -- but I promise to make it 5 minutes max.

The cool thing about this meeting is that if someone has a question or is struggling with something, they get 3 or 4 opinions for other people who have been there, solved their own problem and are now able to share their experiences.  It's definitely informal and pretty laid back.  It's a good balance to the more formal meeting lead by Hurley.

It starts at 5:30 and goes until 7:00.  It's OK to walk in late -- it's a rule I made up cuz I'm always late.  LOL!

Hope to see you there!

I will do my best to be there!  This sounds more to my liking anyway.  The Vassar suport group is less formal, it is a lot smaller than the Flint one.

Um, did you say your goat went in to labor?  Well, that's the best excuse to miss a meeting that I have ever heard!

YEP I DID!

We raises Pygmy Goats.  Show them all over the contry.  We had five bred does.  One kidded last week and another last night.  She had a little boy and girl (buck and doeling).  Had to go into labor just as I was getting ready to leave for Vassar.
