Anyone from the Upper Peninsula?
I'm from the UP,I had my surgery before it was offered in Marquette.I went to Green Bay , Dr Kemmerling was my surgeon.I had surgery over five years ago,I am still doing good.I have gained a little weight back,i have gone from a size 10 to a 12.I have been doing a lot of stress eating the last few months. We learned in December my husband has stage 4 small cell lung cancer..We have made 5 trips to Milwaukee the last two months.Last week we were soppose to stay for 3 weeks for radiation,I packed enough clothes for a month, stopped the paper and mail all the things I was soppose to do.Once we got to Milwaukee they decided not to do radiation so three weeks turned into three days. This is just part of the stress,Calgon Take Me Away!!
Sorry to hear about your hubby. This can be a stressful time for the entire family. Try to look for support groups that you can attend, or at least get involved with on line. They can be very helpful.
Good luck and prayers going out to you all,
Edie

I wish I was from the UP. My parents were, Houghton/Han**** area and a small town called Nahma. I have relatives in Gladwin, Escanaba, Garden and Newberry. My cousin Bill is the chief of police in Newberry. My hubby and I had talked about retiring up there, but decided that with my medical problems we'd stick in the lower, closer to good hospitals. I know there's a hospital in Marquette and Manistique, but there aare more in the lower. We have a place in Interlochen, by Traverse City that we'll retire to. After I get my surgery. I can't wait. Do you know how long it'll be before you're scheduled for surgery?
I think I may have met your cousin once. Some friends of mine are dispatchers for that area and we took a road trip to see some of the officers. I don't remember his last name. If I am thinking correctly he retired from the city and now works for the Sheriffs Department. Could be wrong on that though.
