GR area OB/GYN recommendation
Hi everyone,
I am currently 5 years post-op doing great. I have had little to no complications. I am looking for an OB/GYN recommendation in the GR area. I am currently off the pill and when/if pregnant would like a doctor with experience with post-op bariatric surgery pregnancies. I know it's not necessary, but it would make me fell more comfortable. THANKS!

I would contact Dr. Kemmeter's office and ask if they have a recommendation. They may have had other former patients who have had pregnancies post op. 616-956-6100
Otherwise, Dr. Calvin Leazenby is pretty good. Kind of quirky, but nice. (616) 391-3302
Another thought is once you get pregnant, you may want to be seen by the Perinatal Specialists, which deal with high risk pregnancies. With WLS, you may automatically fall into that category. Their office number is (616) 391-3681.

I go to West Michigan OB/Gyn on Ivanrest in Grandville, see Dr. Jane Cottingham. I have seen her for several years and really like her. She knew me before I lost weight and is used to dealing with me since. I have found her to be very straight-forward and intelligent; she talked me through the pros/cons of hormone replacement therapy when it was controversial and everyone said don't do it; then last year's study said it was relatively safe if done for short period on low dose (which is what she told me). When I had cervical polyps, she, not her nurse, called me with the results (benign). Of all the doctors I see on a regular basis, I like her the best. I don't know about pregnancies, of course, because I'm menopausal, but you could, of course, interview her.
