Just another manic Monday.....

Good Monday Morning!

I've been offline most of the weekend -- it felt good to unplug for a couple days.  Got a late start this morning, but I've had my protein chai tea and coffee.... and a banana for breakfast.

The Hurley support group meeting is tonight, so heading there after work.  And I've got craft projects lined up tonight when I get home that I've been procrastinating getting done -- and now my deadline is passed, so gotta just do it.

Have a great day all!
Pam

I've never been to a Hurley support group meeting b/c they are so far away.  What are they like?

The Hurley meeting usually a formal presentation with a scheduled speaker each month.  There are usually about 30-50 people who attend ranging from pre-op to many years post-op and either lapband or RNY.  Last month Dr. Manasian filled in for someone who cancelled... and I think he's also schedule for tonight's meeting.  Last month he really dissappointed me with his bad advice and I'm hoping he's come to his senses by now.   Sometimes they have good speakers, sometimes not-so-good (I hate when they have representatives from a drug or supplement company come in.)  I keep going because there are so many newbies with a million questions that the mingling and discussion after the meeting is more important than the meeting itself.

There's also the informal Flint support group that meets 2 weeks after the Hurley one.  It's lead by Jim but there's no formal presentation.  We also have members come who had surgery at any area hospital (not just Hurley).  It's basically a Q&A type format where we each have a chance to introduce ourselves, ask for help with a struggle or challenge or share triumphs.  I enjoy this one much more than the Hurley one.   We have a Google Group set up for meeting announcements and files/recipes/pictures.  http://groups.google.com/group/flint-area-bariatric-support- fabs?hl=en

Good Morning Bren,

I didn't really eat the first week after my TT.  I lost a few pounds on top of what the doc took off.  But the next couple of weeks, when I started to eat normal, my weight went up some.  I think its normal for you right now.  Just be patient and also be a good patient and let your body heal.

For breakfast I ate a 1/2 c of protein-infused cheesecake filling that I like to make.  And for lunch I am eating meatloaf.  No mashies though.  Man I love those carbs.  I am just trying to stick to high protein so I can drop a few more lbs and one carb for me leads to many carbs.  Last night I bought pure pumpkin in a can and two acorn squashes.  Rob thinks it was because I am craving iron.  I never thought of that.  Plus, I have missed a few times taking my multi vitamin.

Oh yeah, on Saturday, me and Leo went for a bike ride/run.  He did really well for his first time out.  He got his whiskers trimmed on the spokes once, but he learned quickly.  We were gone for 20 mins and he trotted the whole way.  When we got home, he didn't pant one bit and then jumped on me and started play biting.  I am guessing I did not spend his energy reserve.  Don't worry though, tomorrow is SNIP SNIP, bwuaaaaahahahaha.  Watch him be in the 30% that doesn't mellow after neutering.

Sorry for Rambling Michigan!

BM, I guess that's my name now.

When I had my ****er fixed, he went from 25 pounds to 45 pounds.  At 19 inches tall, he was as wide as he was tall.  He did mellow, no energy at all.  Boxers are kinda high strung anyway.  Best of luck for ya.

Hey BM

At the clinic I work for we always tells patients that it usually takes 60 days from the date of surgery to be able to tell a difference in their behavior. But sometimes I think they get so upset from being left at the vet for the procedure that they straighten up right away! LOL

Are they going to be using glue on him or stitches? If he is a hyper dog then they should use glue so that the stitches do not come apart. But jus****ch for the licking thing. If he does then make sure to buy a cone.. If you have any questions that the Dr's office wont answer don't hesitate to message me. I helped Carey with her little baby when she had surgery too.

Hope it all goes well.

Gee, Suzanne for a minute there I wasn't sure if you were talking about the boxer's neuter or Brenda's tummy tuck...

BM - since your doggie is a one-ball wonder like mine was, did they say anything about his recovery taking a little longer?  Will he have more than the regular incision?  I had Rexy fixed 10 years ago, so I don't remember.

Hi everyone.

I'm not 'eating' anything today....I'm on week two of my liquid diet!   So far so good....I haven't cheated once.  This weekend I made cheesy potatioes, sloppy joes and macarroni salad for my family......Oh......I so badly wanted a bite of those cheesy potatoes!!!!!!!   But, I drank my chocolate shake instead........

One week from today at this time, I will have already had my surgery.....I keep telling myself, Just one more week!
