Easy Like Sunday Morning and coffee

Drinking a G2 right now, probably should be doing my protein shake but want something different.  Unfortunately I weigh myself everyday, or at least almost everyday.  I do try to do it after a bike ride or run.  I find my weight can fluctuate by 4-5 pounds and I need to keep on it.  After my TT I dropped a total of 15 pounds, I did put about 5 of it back on so I'm working to get those stupid things off again.
It was a lot more fun weighing myself those first 10 months after my RNY, especially those days when I'd weigh myself in the morning and then again at night and it could be up to 5 pounds difference!

Hi all!

still a newbie here.  going for my seminar on Tuesday.  Im so excited! this is the first step of my new life!
anyway....watching this thread every day, my question is...obviously you are allowed coffee after surgery.  Is it allowed as long as it is caffein free and sugar free?  what about dairy products? sugar free creamers are ok?
I only drink one cup of coffee a day, but oh, how I look forward to that one cup every morning!
Hopefully, I can find a nice SF hazelnut creamer that I like.  I used splenda as my sweetner, is that ok?

as for the qotd...I am afraid of that first weigh in...(Groaning) not gonna be pleasant.

OK, here is what They say:  caffeine dehydrates you and you should not drink it.  You should not ever have it again. period.

OK, here is what i do: I drink one cup of regular coffee per day.  I also drink extra water with it.  Yes, the s/f creamers and flavors are okay to use.  I use davinci syrups in mine.  also, creamer, the dry kind has no sugar in it either, so its safe.  Dairy products are up to the individual, some get tummy problems with it, like the D word.

Hey as far as your first weigh in, its a starting point for you. So you can see how far you've come!!

Thoughts become things... choose the good ones!

I used to drink 4 cups of coffee a day before my surgery.  I had to stop prior to my surgery during th e prep period and knew that I would go right back to it post-op.  I stayed with the decaf for a few months and when I felt like having some cafine, I would get a calf caf, half decaf and that did the trick for me.  Then I decided that I really didnt need it so I quit it again in January.  I spoke with a surgeon last week and I asked him about it and he said that cafine was ok in moderation, just make sure that you stay hydrated, becasue the cafine willwork against you there.

Good luck

Hi!
I don't do coffee, but I see that others obviously do.  Sf (sugar free) creamers are ok, as is Splenda.  I have to caution you though....I used Splenda pre-op, but since the day after surgery it "bothers" me, meaning I'm really sensitive to it.  I get a headache when I eat more than a little bit.  Other sweeteners are fine for me, though.

Don't worry about your first weigh in.  No matter what the number is, you're only going to go down!  So don't sweat it...it is what it is!

I got my band on 2/25,  Today I have managed 2 protein shakes and 8oz skim milk.  Much better than yesterday.  I don't know how they expect us to eat so much.  Wish I could have stayed on clear liquids for three days in stead of ful liquids.

QOTH:  I weigh in every am in the buff  Since I was banded I weigh every couple hours.  I thought if I gained 11 pounds in 24 hours I should be able to lose it that fast right?  Nope three days later still up 2 pounds.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

The weight you "gain" in the hospital was from your IV, not you.  You'll loose it... just give it time.  Also if it is your in your "monthly" gain it may take a few more days, but you'll get there.  I guess I was lucky when I was post of my scale was upstairs and I had no desire to go up their for a few days LOL!!!

Your body has been through a great shock, you'll see the change.... one day at a time, you'll get there!!!

Thanks Edie!

And your right.  They had doubled up on my IV fluid because I had to go a certain amount before I could leave.  It was all gone this am.

Just got home from work but I did my usual Dunkin Donuts Decaf this morning and about 6 bottles of water since then.

I also weigh in once a week.  I had my RNY on a Monday and have weighed in every monday since.  I also track my weight on a spreadsheet with a chart to see my progress (or lack therof).

Have a grest rest of your Sunday.

I am a little late in the game today, but still sipping on my grape flavored water. Yum Yum!!!

I will be 6 months out in a few weeks and I still weigh myself daily!! I keep saying I need to stop doing that, but I have yet to put the scale away. Perhaps after the 6 month mark I will.
