What do you do when the weightloss stops?  Do you take pills? If so, what?  It's been a year since gastric bypass.  I have stopped for 4 months at least.  Any Suggestions?

This is sooooo normal.  My weight loss slowed WAY down after 7 months, it's went down extremely slowly since then.  But trust me you have a 12-18 month window.

Are you following the rules?  How is your protein intake? water?

If you continue to work the program it will work for you, just much slower at this point.

I'd LOVE to loose another 35 lbs, but if I don't, I know I am SOOOOOOO much healthier than I was.  I used to say that if I ended up in the 180's I'd be happy and I mean that.  Look at where your at compared to where you've come from.

Good luck,

Edie

First of all ((((Kim)))) don't beat yourself up.  You have come this far, the rest is now HARD work.  I know this from experience.  Around the 10 month mark I didn't lose any weight for at least 3 months straight.  I had to really really work at it from that point on.  Yes, like a 'diet', with exercise, d'oh.  What I did is went back to consuming mainly protein.  Yeah Yeah I know.  I went back to eating cottage cheese, tuna, chicken, eggs and protein shakes at every meal.  NO carbs, or at least only from veggies.  It helped.  I am 18 months out and I am still not at my goal weight.  I had a TT anyway.  The way I feel right now I am happy with my body.  But it is still a work in progress.  I had to face that the 'honeymoon' was over and the days of pounds falling off were long gone.  The good thing is that most of us, if we work at it and stick to the pouch rules, can still lose more weight, just slower.

Good Luck Sweetie!!!

Sometimes, we hit stalls and all of the tings that were working fabulously for us, stop working.  We can continue to do the same things we were doing  (following the rules) and we still don't lose weight.  It's frustrating, but I don't know of anyone who hasn't experienced this.  One thing you may want to try is to change up your routine a bit.  Our bodies can get comfortable and they need a "wake-up" so to speak.

Try not to get too discouraged (which is easier said than done).   Tina

Great advice from eveyone!  I concur, just hang in there and keep moving forward.  If you follow the basic rules, you will continue to lose slowly but surely.

Whenever we hit a plateau that lasts for more than 1 month, it's time to take a close look at EVERYthing we're doing.  Weight loss is a delicate balance of diet and exercise and a million other things ... so if the scale isn't moving and we're not losing inches, we have to do something different.  Here's a list I put together on my blog called Breaking A Stall

Breaking a Stall

Weight loss stalls and plateaus are very common after WLS -- or any type of weight loss program. We didn't gain weight steadily over the years and we will not lose weight every day or week when we're losing weight it's not going to melt off every day or week. It's frustrating, but it's all part of the process and we just have to be patient and work through these little bumps in the road.

But when the scale hasn't moved for a couple weeks or months - this is the perfect time to take a very close look at what we're doing and figure out if we need to make change. Have we allowed bad habits to creep back in or are there adjustments to routines that need to be made to jumpstart the weight loss again? Here's a list I typed up earlier:

  • Are you tracking your food intake in a food journal? Is it on track?
  • Are you tracking every single calorie that passed your lips? (flavored water, vitamins, gum, single pieces of candy) Even if you aren't keeping track of calories, your body is!
  • Are you eating too MANY calories?
  • Are you eating too FEW calories?
  • Are you taking in enough protein? 80-100g/day
  • Are the fats you're eating healthy (polyunsaturated and monounsaturated)
  • Are you eating too many simple carbs (bread, pasta, potatoes, sugar, pasta, rice)
  • Are you eating enough fruits and veggies?
  • Are you drinking enough water (water flushes fat toxins from our body)?
  • Are you grazing?
  • Are you eating the right quantity? Measuring and weighting foods?
  • Are you eating on a schedule?
  • Are you exercising hard enough? Long enough? Fast enough?
  • When's the last time you changed your exercise routine? (The body becomes efficient and doesn't burn as many calories after we've done the same thing for 4-6 weeks)
  • Have you added weight training to your workouts? (muscle burns more calories at rest)
  • Are you taking all your vitamins and supplements?
  • Have you started taking any new medications that might promote weight gain?
  • Have you taken your measurements (you might be losing inches even if the scale isn't moving)
  •
  • Also, here's a great post by DxE that has a ton of information that might trigger ideas in some other areas to break a plateau.

Hope this helps...

Thank You to all for your comments, encouragement and suggestions.  I do follow all the rules and keep close track at what I eat.  I may need to change up my workout.  I am a person who tends to eat, drink and exercise the same everyday.  When I asked if anyone take any pills I wasn't asking for a MAGIC PILL.  I wanted to know if there was anything someone found that boost the metabolism that would help on top of everything I already do.  I am feeling the window of opportunity closing faster each day and I am freaking out knowing I am not where I want to be yet.  Yes, I have lost 105 lbs, but I want more.  I do look back and have that "WOW" that was me moments.  Just seemed to need the encouragement.  Thanks to all the people *****ally understand where I am coming from it helps to know you are out there.
