Anxious about my Psych Eval coming up.
I was nervous before but today I spoke with a couple of people who went through Hurley and also went through Dr.Williams and they both HATED him with a passion. Granted they were approved, but they said they just did not like the guy especially when he diagnosed one with a personalities disorder, and the other with a combative personality.
I've known these women for the past 2 years and NEITHER have either of these "disorders". The supposedly combative one is one of the sweetest old ladies you'd ever meet! My children love her and I've never seen her get mad at anyone before.
I guess he was kind of mean to them, and now I am more scared than what I was before.
What were some of your experiences with Dr.Williams?

I saw Dr. Williams and I didn't hate him at all. He said a couple things I didn't like but he most likely just said what he believed to be true. If you aren't in the room with him, you can't know all that transpired. He is the one that highly recommended I come to this site.
If he approves you, isn't that all you really need.
You'll do just fine.
I thought you were spending your time on the VSG boards and were having a VSG, they don't do them at Hurley.

Well, when I went to see the surgeon on the 10th & I was pleasantly surprised when Dr. Kralovich said that they were starting to train and do more VSG's through Hurley. I honestly did not think I would get the VSG through them or my insurance, but he's assured me that my insurance has approved the VSG for them before and that they have done a few VSG surgeries at Hurley now.
I am still skeptical, since this is all "new" for them and I'll believe it when I see it, of course. I was set to accept the RNY based on my insurance coverage and what this site said Hurley performed.
But nope, Kralovich said I am a perfect candidate for the VSG, he cleared it with the director and things are in motion for it, as far as I know. They are basing it on the facts that I do have a history of anemia and that we would like to have more children in the future, as well.
So apparently BCBS has been approving more VSG's - according to Kralovich, and Hurley is "training" for the VSG. He even said "You are a candidate, as long as you are okay with someone who hasn't performed this surgery a lot, yet." I thought for a moment about it, but knowing it is less complicated that the DS and RNY and it is essentially the first half of the DS and if I am one of the first to have the VSG at Hurley done then they will probably be extra careful with it too, so why not.
I guess if I can have what I want without having to go to Mexico, then I'll pave the way for the VSG at Hurley then.

Well they don't "train" on their patients, I assume. But my BMI is 52 according to Hurley. It was 49 at mt PCP but apparently I also lost height too. It seems like my weight stays the same and my BMI changes with whomever calculates my BMI. Go figure.
Still I guess I am more of a practice subject. I don't know what to call myself. Training and practice goes hand in hand with the more people you do any surgery on. LOL
