Looking for healthcare professionals who have had bariatric surgery...
Since I cannot find an individual health insurance policy that covers bariatric surgery, my next option is to find a job where they do!
Where can I work?

I am a  nurse and have had bariatric surgery.   Not sure what your profession is in order to tell you where to apply.   If you are a nurse, you should have no problem finding a job where they have a health benefit that covers WLS, if you are not a nurse, health care systems are feeling the same cuts and reductions related to the economy.   If you are a nurse and want information on the health system that I work for, please feel free to e-mail me.

Bronson in Kalamazoo has WLS benefit, they cover up to 28,000 which isn't bad. I have yet to see my bill. Yiu also have to attend certin classes and other stuff to qualify.  Unfortunately they have a hiring freeze on right now. So much for the economy not effecting health care.  Good luck ! I'm a med tech and had the surgery.  However, be aware that many hospitals have self funded insurance and may not cover the surgery.  If they do you have many more hoops to jump through.

I am a nurse at the DMC-worked at Harper where I had my surgery.  I didn't have to pay a penny out of pocket for my surgery-what a wonderful benefit.

I'm a nurse and will have Bariatric surgery where I work which is Henry Ford in Detroit. I have HAP HMO preferred for HF employees. My co-pay is 1,000 bucks.  I used to work at Beaumont, they wanted 5,000 bucks out of my pocket and they wanted me to do their useless beaumont diet program.
