What to do with my "too big" clothes???

I'm currently at this point of my weight loss journey too, and seem to have a closet full of clothes that are too big for me.  Many are the ones I wear to work everyday and are still in great shape.

My sister is the Director of Outreach East, a Non-profit that helps qualified individuals and families with heat, clothes, food, gas money, or whatever they may need for day-to-day survival.

They are setting up a section of their facility as a "professional clothing" section.  They are asking for donations of clothing in good shape that people can wear for job interviews and professional work situations.  She came up with this because so many people were coming to her asking for money because they didn't have anything to wear to job interviews.

They service the Davison area and can take donations from anyone.  I live in Traverse City, and will be giving all my bigger clothing I can no longer wear.

I think its a great cause and if you do to, please feel free to contact her (her name is Jan) at:
[email protected].  Their website is Outreacheast.org and has a mission statement as to their purpose.  This is also tax deductible and you will get a receipt with the value that you have determined.

If you would like to donate locally in your area, I'm sure there are organizations with the same purpose that would benefit and love to have your old clothing.

I live in Davison too.  I go in for surgery next month.  Yours must be going great if your dumping big cloths already.

I need to get ahold of them to throw away my DD cloths.  She's moved out but her stuff hasn't.

They just opened a Salvation Army in Davison too.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I just donated all my 6x, 5x, 4x, 3x, 2x, and some XL clothes to the Goodwill. They opened a shop a in Oxford near me, on Lapeer Rd.  Many of the clothes were not only like new but actually new. I 'in' grew (if that's the opposite of 'out grew') pants over night it seems. I only buy one pair jeans at a time now.

Congrats Nick!  Sounds like you're doing a great job.

I too only buy 1 pair of jeans at a time.  I found a great sale here and bought dress pants in 3 different sizes to have for when I get to them!  For the price I couldn't beat it.

I was looking through my suit jackets this morning and told my husband that's the next thing I'll be going through... I have a ton of them.  Its hard to part with them because they're really nice, but I can't wear them any longer... why stay attached?  Not once have I thought "well maybe I can wear this again"... I know they are too big and just hang on me..... But the good thing will be - I'll have a LOT more room in my closet because of it!!

All my old suits are gone, and they were hard to part with. Some of them cost $600 each, custom tailored for the big man I was. I had to attend a funeral recently and discovered that even a suit that I had tailored in last  summer was so big it had to go. I had to buy a new jacket and pants, but you know what, it came off the shelf! From a regular store. They don't have my size at the big and tall shop anymore. How ungrateful of them after I was a loyal customer for over 20 years! What a nice thing to be able to go into a regular discount store, Meijers, and buy Levi jeans off the rack. And for only 20 bucks instead of over 50! I am about ready to turn over a new batch, of too big clothes, for donation soon.  Gotta Love it.

Ahhh - I do know what you mean!  I bought a new dress for my daughters wedding in 2007 and had lost some weight before that.  It was a gorgeous dress and I paid $400 for it.  I tried it on yesterday too - and while it was tight for her wedding it fit loosely now.  I have decided that I will pay the money to have that dress taken in when it comes time - its such a gorgeous dress and I paid so much for it, I figured it was worth the investment.  Some clothes you can do that with - some you can't.

Yes I'm happy to be looking at the regular sizes too.  I still have some weight to get off and am looking forward to looking at even the smaller sizes and hopefully soon!

Congratulations!  At what point did your hair start thinning?  I think I've noticed a bit more than normal coming out lately.
