Looking for dr..

I'm now ready to go through with this, and I'm looking for a good doctor.
I'm in Flint area, but would be willing to travel a bit.

Why travel? We have excellent surgeons right here. Dr Farhan did my at Hurley. The staff at the hospital was second to none!

He looks to do mostly the Lap Band. What precedure is better? I guess its time for me to send for information on it.

Dr. Farhan did my RNY in 05.  He was great, as was my whole experience at Hurley.  

A great source of information is Pam T.  She had her RNY done at Hurley and can help you tremendously, she is a great source of information.  Read her blogs, read her posts and send her a note.  She is also the leader of our support group, which you are very welcome to attend.   We have a couple of people that have used Hurley for RNY.

McLaren also has a bariatric center of excellence
Dr Dabideen said in a meeting i went to that he has preformed  over 900 surgerys.
He started at hurley. I have picked him to do my rny. He also will do the lap band

Dr Dabideen is an excellent surgeon and has been around for years and years.  He did both my mom and sister's surgeries (sis 7.5 years ago, mom 5.5 years ago).  He moved from Hurley to McLaren to start their program a few years ago.

Wow...thanks so much everyone!  Everyone has been so quick this looks like a great source of information right here!  Have most all of you had this done already?  I have so many questions I'll have to go to a meeting.  I see they have them monthly.

 I just noticed something. The date I joined this site 2003 mind boggling how long I've thought about having this done. I just told my husband, and he says "see its bothered you for a long time, do it".

In case you do decide to travel, or at least check out other docs, you could check into mine. 
Dr. James Foote, with Grand Health Partners - a Center of Excellence.  He is in an office with 2 other bariatric surgeons.  He did an amazing job on my surgery, and has wonderful statistics to back his practice up.  I have been so happy with my care.  He's in Grand Rapids.
