Good Morning Michigan, Snow and blowing snow this AM. It so cold that the dog does not wont to go outside -30 wind chill
I'm drinking SF French Vanilla DE Caf. What's in your Cup this cold AM?
The Q for the day..... What is the size of pants that you would like to fit in someday?
For Me ...... 34X34 I'm in a size 36x34 know almost there....
Hope your having a great day
Drinking my fake latte this morning. Getting a late start since the drive into work was treacherous. I really hate snow and defintely ready for spring -- it can arrive anytime, please! Gotta get my meal planning for the day done and then pretend I'm doing some work here at the office.
QOTD -- About 8 months ago Goodwill had a 1/2 price sale and I went nutso with buying every piece of clothing I liked in whatever size I thought I'd ever get into. Somewhere in the pile I grabbed a couple size 12 slacks. I have no doubt I'll fit into them eventually (doing a 14 or 16 now) -- but if this neverending stall would get outta town I'd get there faster.

Breaking a Stall
I replied to a thread on OH earlier today and thought I'd copy it here for future reference.
Weight loss stalls and plateaus are very common after WLS -- or any type of weight loss program. We didn't gain weight steadily over the years and we will not lose weight every day or week when we're losing weight it's not going to melt off every day or week. It's frustrating, but it's all part of the process and we just have to be patient and work through these little bumps in the road.
But when the scale hasn't moved for a couple weeks or months - this is the perfect time to take a very close look at what we're doing and figure out if we need to make change. Have we allowed bad habits to creep back in or are there adjustments to routines that need to be made to jumpstart the weight loss again? Here's a list I typed up earlier:
- Are you tracking your food intake in a food journal? Is it on track?
- Are you tracking every single calorie that passed your lips? (flavored water, vitamins, gum, single pieces of candy) Even if you aren't keeping track of calories, your body is!
- Are you eating too MANY calories?
- Are you eating too FEW calories?
- Are you taking in enough protein? 80-100g/day
- Are the fats you're eating healthy (polyunsaturated and monounsaturated)
- Are you eating too many simple carbs (bread, pasta, potatoes, sugar, pasta, rice)
- Are you eating enough fruits and veggies?
- Are you drinking enough water (water flushes fat toxins from our body)?
- Are you grazing?
- Are you eating the right quantity? Measuring and weighting foods?
- Are you eating on a schedule?
- Are you exercising hard enough? Long enough? Fast enough?
- When's the last time you changed your exercise routine? (The body becomes efficient and doesn't burn as many calories after we've done the same thing for 4-6 weeks)
- Have you added weight training to your workouts? (muscle burns more calories at rest)
- Are you taking all your vitamins and supplements?
- Have you started taking any new medications that might promote weight gain?
- Have you taken your measurements (you might be losing inches even if the scale isn't moving)
Also, here's a great post by DxE that has a ton of information that might trigger ideas in some other areas to break a plateau.

The scale can measure the weight of my body but never my worth as a woman. ~Lysa TerKeurst author of Made to Crave
Hi Pam,
I usually stay clear of offering any advice to someone with a different anatomy, but this advice I received from a very long time RnY guru (although ERnY), and I have seen it apply to many people, so maybe this will help you?? I really haven't technically stalled, but my weight loss pattern has changed and the monthly loss had decreased quite a bit, so I followed the advice to hopefully avoid a true stall -- although I am not naive enough to think that my turn isn't coming! This this what she wrote:
Seems a lot of people stall around a weight they were at for a long period of time on the way up, the body feels comfortable right there, and will fight to stay there. A lot of people go back into diet mode of watching everything they eat, etc... but I have found that what the body needs is the reassurance that you aren't going to starve it. Do what you have been doing if that worked for you to lose at a steady pace, but add in a protein shake (whey isolate) or two a day and bump up the fluids! Both will alert your body that you aren't going to starve it, but you aren't adding in a lot of calories.
Hope this passes quickly, Pam!

Highest Known Weight = 370# / 59.7 bmi @ 5'6"
Current Weight = 168# / 26.4 bmi : fluctuates 5# either way @ 5'7" / more than 90% EWL
Normal BMI (24.9) = 159#: would have to compromise my muscle mass to get here without plastics, so this is not a goal.

This stall is definitely frustrating, but I know it's all part of the process. I wish I knew what my weights were back when I was younger ... I guess I'm just not one of those people who know what they weighed in high school, college, their wedding (not married), when X baby was born (no kids). So maybe I was at 190-ish for a while years ago. I've heard that theory too and it does make a lot of sense.
I've also heard that the last 20-30 pounds can take as long to lose as the first 100-or-so. Which is where I'm at right now with the numbers.
I had my RMR tested about a month ago and I've been gradually increasing my calories to get up to 1450. Right now I seem to have settled around 1200, but need to figure out healthy ways to get the calories up a bit more. I average around 100-130g protein a day and have been doing much better getting all 64oz of water.
So I'm just waiting patiently for my body to catch up with my desires.

I also think that last X# of pounds thing is dead on. Maybe you need to set your goal weight lower and trick your mind?!? I've watched people lose 200# easy-breezy and amazingly quick, but darn if those last 20# won't budge. Whether you start out as a heavyweight or lightweight, I think that it generally the same situation for most.
I am also one of those people that have no idea what I weighed, when, or even what size I was. Both of us didn't have those milestones that trigger a weight focus -- wedding, pregnancy -- maybe THAT is why I avoided those things! I do remember that my weight was always higher than most of my peers, but I was an athlete and knew that my muscle weight had a lot to do with it -- along with the reason my 'swimmers shoulders' would never fit into those cute tops! I think that is a lot of the reason that I don't focus on a goal weight or size now, I always went into this for health, nothing more.
I do have memories of times that I had to acknowledge my weight though, like the first time I had to shop at LB (I even remember what I bought!), when I told my mother that I weighed over 200# (how long or how much I was over 200# though, I have no idea), or when the doctor first had to move that bar over to the 300# mark. When exactly these things were, I don't know, but the memory of the event is vivid.

Running a bit late this morning. We had at least 5 inches of snow this morning. It is light and fluffy, so the drive wasn't too bad, just the idiots that are scared to drive on it. Ok, my pet peeve this morning was a 4wd truck that pulled out in front of me and drove 25 miles a hour down the middle of the road. Its not like I was traveling at a high rate of speed, but please, if you are so petrified to drive on the road, stay home. Nope, the old fart (yes I mean 70 plus) putted along and turned into one of the local restaurants. Must have needed his morning coffee. GRRRRRRR. Ok I am over it now.
QOTD - my goal is a size 14. It is the smallest size I ever remember being at that was when I was 14. I am currently below the size I was in College.
Working on my 3rd cup of coffee with nonfat milk and a little sweetener. Next cup will be some herb tea or crystal lite. Probably tea because my office is freezing. Hopefully drop a couple pounds just from all the shaking I will be doing from the cold.
