Getting Ready for My Surgery
I have had a bad upper respiratory infection, got a chest xray lungs a OK but have to take antibiotic.
The Doc also found that I have a bad bladder infection, so I have another antibiotic. I think that if I felt better I may not be so anxious.
With all of this going on in my body it seems that they would set the surgery back a week, but the Doc says it will be OK.
Have others had similar issues before surgery? Did it affect your recovery?
It's pretty common to have a 'two week freak'....so you avoided a week!
I went into surgery completely confident in my choice of procedures & my surgeon, so I was remarkably calm leading up to my surgery. Wheeled into the OR with a huge smile on my face!
With all the antibiotics you are taking know, and those that will be pushed through your body during surgery, make sure to be on the lookout for Thrush (yeast infection in the mouth). It is not at all that uncommon. I left Blodgett with Thrush, and was told it would go away on its own -- ya, not so much.
You're in great hands with Dr. Foote and will be well taken care of. If he says you are good to go for surgery, trust that.

i agree with Kim on the antibiotics and possibility of thrush...in fact your comments reminded me that I had taken antibiotics prior to my surgery as well because of a stomach bacteria. I bet that that attributed to my thrush following surgery. If anything taste sour while you are in the hospital or after you get home (even water, but especially things that are milk based) get on the phone immediately with the doctors office and ask for diflucan. Tell them you dont want to mess around with the swishes and rinses.
Good luck!!!!!!

I have had issues with Dr. Foote's office people. I know that has nothing to do with Dr. Foote's abilities, but it makes me wonder why he has such unprofessional people on his phones. If I should get home and have issues will I get the help I need??? You can call everyday for a week and no one will call you back.
It is unfortunate that two great surgeons (Foote & Kemmeter, I don't know Baker) surround themselves with su*****ompetence. Believe me, you're not the only one to feel this way. I've had zero reasons to call them for anything post-op, so I haven't had to find out for myself what the level of aftercare will be like. I don't even do follow-up appts with them any longer, because they provide such inaccurate information about the DS that is actually harmful.
HOWEVER, I do know people personally that have had to get back into the surgeon to have a consultation for an issue, and every single one of them have been very well taken care of! I feel very confident in my choice of surgeon, for the long haul. Definitely something to consider as a pre-op! We are often so desperate and worn down, that we just take what we can get as quickly as possible. Educating yourself on what you need to advocate for yourself is one of the very best things you can do for your health moving forward.
