Good Morning Michigan, It so cold outside this am and a storm with freezing rain coming in for Sunday . Just what we need.

I'm drinking s/f  vanilla Carmel de caf . What's in your cup this AM?

TQFTD.........Have you had Scramps Yet? ( Myofascia ) "This is common in WLS after losing weight"

For me.... I get then often and it hurts like hell. I have found that if I lay on the bed with my foot in the air till it tingles . Then hang it off the bed to get the blood flowing again . Helps me out.

Plans for the W/E?
Rest and take it easy before Deb goes back to work on Monday. ....lol    That is if there school

I'm listening to the radio and they just gave the weather forecast for the next few days.  Sounds like lots of ice....freezing rain, etc.  YUCK!  I hate ice.  Snow I can deal with.  But no school on Monday.....hmmmmm.  That could be appealing.

I'm waiting for my Ghirardhelli Chocolate Caramel coffee to finish brewing.  Smells good.  I'm not crazy about flavored coffees, though.

Scramps?  Never heard of it.  I've been one of those RNY people that hasn't really had any of the "common for WLS" problems.  So, I guess that's a good thing.

Plans for the weekend are to finish entering grades before I go back to school on Monday.  Doing laundry.  That's the extent of my weekend.  Nothing too exciting. Enjoy the day!  Tina

Morning Randy and all....
Yes, I've had two episodes just recently of scramps.....
one in each leg.  They seem to be deep inside the leg and man do they hurt.   Even walking didn't help.....I'll try your cure if I get another one.....it scared me at first because my first tho't was a blood clot, but it went away in 5 minutes or so.  Wonder if it's from low calcium???  I take my four whopper pills faithfully every day and try to eat cottage cheese and some milk too.  Anyway stay safe up your way, we are to get some freezing rain down here too.....yuk, just when all the snow is finally gone.

Morning Pat , Yes I have heard that it could be from Low or High calcium, You can ask your surgeon for a blood work up to see if your levels are OK

Hi Pat,

If you are at all concerned about your calcium levels, please be sure to monitor you PTH levels as well.  You probably already know this, but your calcium levels on your lab work tells you absolutely squat, well until it is really far too late at your body is already beyond leaching calcium from your bones.  Our surgeon's office has never mentioned this to me, didn't even recommend taking calcium, so I was glad I picked it up via other sources so I could hopefully avoid the downfalls.

Thanks Kimberley,
I don't think I have low calcium levels and Dr. Kemmeter's office and dietician did tell me to take 1000 mg of calcium citrate with vit. D, every day, which I do.   Before WLS my calcium levels were in the high normal range....

I was just wondering what causes scramps......I think I read something about it, but can't remember where it was.

You've done a wonderful job losing - I'm really proud of you.   I actually had the opportunity recently to talk with Dr. K. on the phone -- it was so great and I felt really good about being able to talk with him.....he really lifts me up......I could use that boost about once a month.......LOL!

Thank you , Pat.  I really appreciate you saying that  :)

I think the world of Dr. Kemmeter.  I think good thoughts about him every single day!  Besides being a surgeon that I had complete faith in, he really is a very nice man.  Luckily, I haven't had any reason to see him since last year in Blodgett!  I know people that have had reason though, and he is right there when you need him and making things all better.  That is a really good feeling to know he is always there to jump right back in again if you should need him.

Drinking my Click warm (guess I needed a caffeine buzz this morning) and enjoying the blue sky & sunshine.  Completely avoiding going to Meijer to buy the junk to unclog my kitchen sink.  How lazy am I that I am actually contemplating calling a plumber because I don't want to deal with this mess?!?

Well thank you for making me aware of Scramps, Randy!  So I haven't had this yet, but now you know I am going to!!  I am one of those people that reads about a medical condition and then looks for all the symptoms convincing myself I have it.

Looking forward to hanging out with Kelly tonight, and taking all of her money home with me      .
