Its 10:30 already.  Boy the day flys by when the mall is busy.

Drank some water on my slippery drive in.  I am so tired of the snowy drive.  Had my coffee after I got to work, and now working on some cottage cheese and then back to crystal lite or water.

What works for my weight loss, is food journals.  When I journal I lose.  As simple as that, being aware of what I put in my mouth.

Stay warm everyone.

Good morning all!

I'm about tired of the snow.  With the winds yesterday I ended up with a 7' drift that's blocking the road to the right of my driveway.... going left was also pretty difficult and nearly got stuck leaving for work this morning.  Hope it's gone when I get home tonight!    Here in Saginaw they're saying we are having the 3rd snowiest December on record and to beat it we'd need another 20 inches.  I have no desire to beat it!

I already had my fake vanilla latte this morning and I'm already on my first bottle of Crystal Light.

QOTD:  I'm increasing calories since I had my RMR tested.  It's slow going but I'm working hard to make it a healthy increase.  The scale moved a half an inche this morning (down 1/2 pound) -- and since it's been stuck for the past several weeks, I'll take whatever it wants to give up right now.

Hey Pam,
Can you elaborate on RMR?

RMR is Resting Metobolic Rate.  The test measures how many calories you burn while sitting quietly at complete rest after a certain number of hours fasting and not exercising.  The test I had done was with BodyGem.

My RMR is 1425.  So my body needs 1425 just to exist and survive.  Anything I burn through normal daily activity, exercise or whatever... is just a bonus.  So I'm working to get my daily calories up to 1425.

I talked to my Nut about the scale not moving and she told me to increase to 1500-1800 but I didn't really trust her seemingly-random number she pulled out of the air.  So I decided to have my RMR tested to get a more concrete number.  From what I've heard, my RMR is a bit higher than many others who have been tested.  As I lose weight the number is suppose to go down (cuz I have less body to sustain).  It's recommended that you get it tested when you're at or near goal and I'm about 20 pounds away from my surgeon's goal weight (75% EWL).

If you're in the Waterford/Clarkston area, I'd be happy to share the name of the trainer who did the test for me.

I'm not in that area, but really interested in having this done.  Can you PM me the details, including cost?  I really think not getting enough calories is my big problem.
Thanks!!

It cost me $40 ... but depending on where you go and what you get with it, I've seen prices up to $100.  Sometimes you get an hour nutrition consult with the test.

Here's a search engine to find a BodyGem tester in your area.  Just plug in your zip code.

Morning Michigan,

We have defiantely gotten a lot of snow, not as much as the east coast though. Yesterday, my husband talked to his buddy who lives in northern Maine, they are expecting 24".
I am drinking my make ahead hot choc with a dash of cinnamon in it and also a splash of hazelnut creamer.
Exercise and lots of water seem to be my thing, I do not eat any of the no-no's either ( have not since surgery ( I was given some excellent advice before hand, she told me not to ever test the waters on the things we are not supposed to have). I try not to eat the s/f junk food either. Sometimes it is hard though, especially during the holidays. I try to measure my food every so often so I remember what the portion sizes look like.
