Does any know an estimated time for recovery for a tummy tuck.  I will be having mine on Jan 12, 2009.  My job depends on how long I'm off work.  I sit at a desk so I won't be that active.

I was off of work for two weeks but I sit at a desk and do not have to move or lift anything. My boss was really sympathic to me about the whole thing... They catered to me about not making me get up and down alot. I hated sitting in the house that long. I stayed off that long because of my staples. They were horrible, red and irritated and I could not take it anymore.

Thst's good to hear, hopefully I can be back to work in two or three weeks also.  My job is with Michigan Works and if I'm off to long then I will have to go to the bottom of a list which has three hundred people on it.

 Well,
I took off the two weeks on either side of the Christmas break (4 weeks total being off).  Right now I'm not sure I'll be going back on the 12th or not.  Still dealing with recovery issues.  Going back in 2 weeks, I can't imagine -- you'll have drains and things are just not as easy as we all think they will be.  When I get done with things I'm gonna write a "what I wish I knew about TT's".  I'm not saying I regret the surgery and my previous light-headiness issues/lower iron count signify something I've got to get looked into more aggressively than I have before.
I just imagined things would be the same if not easier than my RNY.  I thought: it's only skin so there's no major re-working of the digestive track, & I'm in good health, besides my previous surgery went well.  The reality is that it's major surgery.  If you read my other posts -- I have no pain.  I know that's unbelievable but not a pill since Wed.  I have on the other hand had to receive 4 units of blood and my blood count is still low.
Plan for 4 weeks, DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THIS SURGERY!!!  You will need help doing just about anything for at least 1-2 weeks (and I mean anything).
Hopefully you don't deal with these complications and bounce back quickly

I took 8, at the same time I had a hysterectomy.  You will have drains for at least a week and be on pain meds.  Not sure you should work on that medication then again, it depends what kind of job you have.

Best of luck and happy holidays

I plan on aking off two weeks from my desk job.  My surgery will be on December 29th.  I am going in with a really positive attitude.  I have thoguht about postpoining this surgery but why?  To be irritated with hanging skin for 6 more months?  I am going to really rest well for that first week or two...and when I say REALLY, I mean REALLY...I am the kind of person who can't sit still.  But I plan on following everythign they say to recovery as quickly as possible.  I have increase my iron intake - someone recommended that to me...I have also been doing a ton of crunches to strengthen my abdominal wall a bit more.  And have increased my protein intake.  Some of you may think I sound naive...I KNOW how serious this surgery is...but if I walk in fearing anything...it's just going to make things harder on my mind and my body.  Talk to your doctor - my doctor says I can go back in two weeks working a desk job...

I know how serious this surgery is going to be and I don't want to kid myself.  OUCH!  I guess I will tell my work sponsor anywhere between 2 to 4 weeks recovery.  I am in good physical health and workout 5 days a week, so with Gods help I'll be up and at um in no time.
Thank all of you for your replies..................
