Well, I just got to my home from my TT.  I will say I have been very impressed with everything over at Barix, wow what a great group of people!  I had forgotten all those little things that you've got to get going after surgery -- like passing gas, ughh!!  What I need from all of you are short funny stories to keep me going.  Things have gone pretty much exactly like I expected and I'm sitting as comfortable as possible.

Glad to see that you are back at home.  I'm thrilled to hear that you had a great experience at Barix.  Just remember to take it easy so you can get those drains pulled.

Take care,

A guy walks into a bar, sits down next to another guy and immediately notices the guy has a very large Bic cigarette lighter.

The first guy says “Wow, that’s a huge lighter…where did you get it?"
The guy replies “A genie from this bottle granted me one wish."

“Great, can I try it?"
“Sure."

The first guy rubs the bottle and the genie appears. “You are granted one wish" says the genie.

The guy says, “I want a million bucks!"
“Done" says the genie and disappears.

A few minutes go by and suddenly the bar door swings open and pouring in come ducks. Thousands and thousands of ducks falling all over each other through the bar door.

“I can’t believe this," says the guy who had just placed his wish, “I asked for a million bucks, not a million ducks!"

The second guy then says, “Do you really think I wished for a 12 inch Bic?"

Dear Saxman,

Congrats on your TT and do listen to Carey!  Stay off your feet and rest rest rest.  In about 2-3 weeks you're going to feel like you can do anything, but the fact of the matter is, your body underwent a MAJOR operation and needs time to heal inside and out.  The  best thing I can tell you is that if you start doing even the smallest of things, you may end up with drains in for 4-6 weeks.  No one wants that.  Just because you may feel up to it, DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Trust me on this one, I had a drain I was for sure would come out and it ended up being in there 4-5 weeks.  Was the one that drained the best but I felt I could do things and so I did and I payed the price.  Listen to your Doctor, and listen to your body.  You need healing time and that's 6-8 weeks MINIMUM!!!!!!
That means stop walking around and stop trying to even do the tiniest of things.  You need to be in a lazy boy or in a comfortable place for the duration and not do anything at all.  Have someone bring you snacks and meals and beverages and watch tv or read or sleep.  Stay on your meds and more importantly, stay off your feet!!!!!!!!!!!!  Trust me, I know, I've been there several times!

I wish you good healing and great things will come as you begin to heal, and when the time is right, as the surgeon if you can start using Vitamin E lotion for the incision sites to help the lines vanish and heal.  Not now, it's too soon.  I use it still and it's been 2 years plus and my incisions are starting to vanish.  Also, you will feel weird things like you've never felt before, nothing to worry about.  you are healing inside as well.

I'm not sure who your surgeon was but if you have any concerns, questions, or problems- do call them immediately. That's what they are there for and never fear -- oh it's too late or oh they are too busy.  Simply leave a message and be precise on telling what is wrong and to get back to you as soon as they can.  Trust me- they will.

Best wishes for a speedy and uneventful healing!!! And again- Congrats!!!
