Had Roux-en-Y on Thursday

I had my surgery on Thursday.  Am home now.  Pain is a little tough at times.  The liquid pain medicine is bad tasting but works.  Love the ice packs.
Dr Kemmeter is a great guy.  I always felt I was number 1 to him when he talked to me.  PA Todd stopped by from GHP and so did Melissa and were helpful.
The nurses and staff at Blodgett far surpassed my expectations and the fact that we get private rooms made the experience so much better.  Didn't do much sleeping Thursday night but now that I am home, was able to sleep in the recliner quite well.  Not ready for the flat bed yet.
Good luck to everyone going to experience this surgery in the future.  Anticipation is the worst, then the pain.   But as I've been told by everyone that has had it, the best is yet to come.

Thanks Randy,

I'm sure it will get better.  I'm now trying to get my walking, breathing machine, protein and 64 ozs of liquids in and then crushes my pills and take those.  Wish me luck.

Roberta,

Congrats, and welcom to the loser's bench.

Just remember, you probably will not meet all your protien and liquid goals for the first few days, just do as much as you can, and each day gets better.

Best of luck

Pam

Congrats and Welcome to the other side. It will get better and you will fall right in line with using your new tool. We are always here to help and there is no question to silly to ask. Well about surgery any way. LOL so relax, one day you will be back in bed and off meds and not crushing things. And remember you will eat again, but you will be better at it.

Congrats Roberta,
My first few days home I wondered if I had made the biggest mistake of my life but if you check my profile you will see that I made the best decision of my life! You will be amazed at the things you can do after the weight loss. For me I cherish even the little things like not struggling up stairs and being able to kneel down and tie my shoe. But the big things are fantastic. I have an active life now, I am no longer a couch potato! I can do things with my children I can only wish I could have done while they were growing up. And I would discuss my private life but oh yeah its much better! WOW! I never had a real life before so if I have some small inconveniences from the surgery, like dumping and having to avoid some foods, I say to myself
"Its a small price to pay to get my life back"
