Good Morning Michigan, Here it is Friday already, What a week there been a lot of New people on the board and some that I have not seen and some time. Welcome Back

I'm drinking Carmel French Vanilla De Caf and witching the News. No Bail out  for the Car Co. I personally am affected be it being retired from GM . Hope that something gets past soon.
Whats in your cup?

The Q for the Day................How do you like the food products chooses available for you in the super market aisle?

I don't think that they do a good job in having a choose of products .always the same old thing..
I hope this will change in the the next few years.

Hello Randy,

It's the same coffee for me this morning, black de-caf, until I can head to Starbucks later for my decaf, skinny cinnamon dolce latte.

I am so sad about the bail-out being turned down. The main culprits were the Senators from the South. There is a good article in the Free Press how the big three didn't think twice about helping the South during disasters. Where are they when we need help? I don't or does my immediate family work in the industry, but we all know of someone who will be impacted by this. Enough ranting.

How do I like the products? Same old stuff, different day.  It seems if you get to really like something, they quit carrying it.

Thanks Randy and TGIF

I hear ya on the bail out for the Big Three.  If the Senate pointed the fingers back at themselves, they would find all the same faults of which they are accusing the Big Three.  Last night's stall on the Senate floor has become partisan politics.  There is no place for partisan politics in this decision.  Any one of the US automakers going down will significantly affect our total US economy.  There are suppliers located in ALL 50 STATES that will fall with the Big Three.  The potential for job loss is nearly 3 million people.  Not to include the communities that exist because of the manufacturing/industrial facilities in their backyards.  It's very sad.  My hubby works for Ford.  He is not union, but he works on the production floor.  Ford is in better shape than GM and Chrysler, but GM goes down, which they've said they won't make it past the end of this year, they will take suppliers down with them. This will, in turn, affect Ford and ALL OF THE OTHER AUTOMAKERS, FOREIGN OR DOMESTIC, because they share the same suppliers!  ALL automakers sales are down.  This is not an american auto company problem.  Toyota and Honda sales were both down 30% in November, just like Ford and Gm.  But you won't see that plastered on the front page of any newspaper.

Deep breaths....I need to stop.  It's very frustrating.  Especially because there DOES NOT NEED TO BE A SENATE VOTE. The Federal Reserve, that has control of the 700 billion bank bailout, could just write the Big 3 a check with no vote.  They did it for Citigroup, on a Sunday night.  They had an emergency meeting.  Gave Citigroup $300 Billion and then they spent $400 million for naming rights for a stadium.  Our tax dollars.....hard at work.

I'm not drinking any coffe this AM.  I'm worried, pissed and frustrated by this whole debacle.  Tina

You go girl !!
I have just marveled at this show going on.
I don't disagree that the Big 3 needed to be put in their place, after first arriving in DC via private jets and no plan.  That said, I don't recall any in the Financial or Insurance sectors being put through this -- and it would have done a world of good if they had been.  Actually, if we had representation intelligent enough to understand the markets and what the administration over the past 8 years was doing to our economy, we would be in a much better position.

And remember -- you point a finger, you have at least three pointing back at you!

Hi everyone-
This whole bailout thing has got me upset.  I hope that some good does come of this and people will get more educated about the economy and what's going on in the state they live in.  It's also a great lesson on living within your means because you just never know what can happen.

As for stuff at the stores.....I am a total hypocrite on this subject.  I don't think we need more products with artificial sweeteners and chemicals.  If you stick to what we are "supposed" to eat (like whole grains and protein and fruits and veg) then there are a lot of choices.  But I eat a lot of convienience foods and it does seem like those are limited because of sugar content and being just bad for you in general.  If you think there isn't a lot of variety, what else would you like to see in the stores?  Have you been to Whole Foods?  It's my favorite place to shop, but I can't afford it!  They have so much good-for-you tasty stuff!

ETA-Will someone do a flippin' 5 for Friday already?  I'm bored!!

The only cheese I buy is the 2 % Deli Delight cheese by Kraft, because it is real cheese and not a wax food product.  it comes in slices, bricks and shredded, but you have to make sure to get the package that says Deli Delight Cheese, and not any thing that says cheese food product or you are buying wax.

As for the auto industry, I am just cheesed about the whole thing. (sorry, bad pun, couldn't resist)

I am driving my Ford, but we should have fixed this whole foreign auto issue years ago.  The perception that foreign cars are better-made is just not true today, but the damage is already done. My brothers are UAW retirees, but as someone who works in health care and who will retire without a pension and without health care, it is hard for me to feel sympathetic when they say they won't give up a single thing in their benefit package.  So there is plenty of blame and not enough solutions to go around.  Poor Michigan-last one out, turn out the lights!

I learned a very valuable lesson before I had surgery, while I was doing Medical Weight Loss.  It was something that is so obvious, but not anything I had thought of.  That little key to grocery shopping and healthy eating was to stick to the outside aisles of the grocery store.  That's where the FRESH food is.  SO that's what I do.  Convenience foods sneak in, inevitably, but I try to avoid the processed foods as much as possible.  If you do this, you will find yourself not going down those middle aisles.  So, I grocery shop mainly in the outside aisles, but sometimes baby makes me buy BAD things...LOL!  Yeah, that's the ticket!
