Good morning Michigan!!!
It is cold and wet here- very little snow.  Rained a lot yesterday.  Be careful driving this am- ice may be under the snow.
I got some great news that my mom is coming here this weekend to visit me from Florida!!! My whole family ( parents, 2 sisters and gma) have moved to Florida and I havent seen them in a few months.  I was so excited my mom is coming tomorrow!!!! woo hooo
I am getting my passport tomorrow and off to Mexico end of Janurary!!!  I am very excited!!

Well, Randy always has a question of the day- so here is mine:
Does everyone get their protein from food only or do you add a supplement like a bar or protein powder?

My answer is I use a scoop of powder in my coffee and sometimes have a south beach protein bar handy if I have nothing else.  I mainly try to get it in with food.

Have a great day all!!

Shannon

Good Morning all, We are digging out like Randy! I'm at work having my usual decaf. with milk. I try to get my protein from food but I like the unjury products so I do have a shake sometimes. I also like the soups I get from the Drs. office. I don't know if I have to get as much protein as some people. The Doc. said about 60gr. Have a great day! Joan

Morning Shay!  I'm so glad for you that your mom is coming to visit!  I'm lucky and get to see or talk to my parents all the time.  As for the Mexico thing, I'm totally jealous, and I don't want to talk about it any more

There is just a little dusting of snow here....mainly puddles from the rain yesterday.  I'm drinking water, as usual.

To answer the Q of the day.....I don't like a lot of foods that are high in protein, so I have found myself drinking something at night with a scoop of powder.  I have been tracking everything on Fitday and if I don't pay attention then I find myself at the end of the day with a ton of carbs and like 20g of protein.  I'm pretty good about my suppliments except for calcium.  I always forget to take those in the middle of the day.  It would be so much easier if I could just take them with my multis, which I do in the morning and in the evening.

And thanks to those that replied to my exercise post......I walked around the gym last night and found a cool machine that is supposed to target all of that stuff I have going on back there!

Good morning, everyone!  Glad to hear your mom is coming to visit, Shannon.  The ride into work this morning was slow.  There were some slippery spots here and there on 94, but not too bad.  My road and the roads in town in Chelsea were worse.

I get all of my protein through the food I eat.  I can't do whey protein and I'm not crazy about soy protein, so I just don't do it.  I'm sure there are days where I probably should do a protein supplement, but I don't.  I honestly don't remember the last time I had any protein powder or a protein drink.  Maybe last summer?  I have like 10 of those big protein vial thingys in my fridge.  Never touched them.  They make me sick because they are whey protein.  So if anyone wants them, let me know.  Tina

Morning ladies and Randy:
I don't usually post here on the Michigan board, but wanted to say
congrats to those who are "in the family way".....how wonderful for you.

As far as protein for me, I usually get more than my 60 gm. from food,
and sometimes make the protein ice cream for some extra.  I am having a hard time with sweets right now.....I unfortunately don't dump on sweets, so they go down really good/bad.   I need a head adjustment, hey sweets are what made me fat in the first place, so stay away and eat good stuff....at least that's what I'm telling myself.

It's icy down here in Sturgis, was real cautious driving into work.

Stay safe all, and have a blessed day.

Hi Mich, I am in the middle of my workday starving.. I know bad thing, but I ran out of snacks and I am here alone so I can't run out to pick up anything. Just drinking a protein jug hoping I can fill up on it. So far half of it is gone and I am still hungry.

I was originally told to get 74g of protein a day and now that I am pregnant I have to add another 10. I usually try to eat my protein but it has gotten harder these last few weeks so I am back to shakes and powders and drinks. Tina , I would love to have the whey. PM me so we can arrange something. Also did they increase your daily protein since you're pregnant?

All my OB said was, "You had RNY?"  I said, "Yes."  His reply, "You'll do fine."  That's it.  I'm three years out, so my food intake is not like a new post-op.  I've always aimed for 80-100g of protein, anyway.  My only problem is that nothing tastes good.  Like, some things just taste bad and I can't eat them.  And I've  lost 10 pounds since getting pregnant.  But the baby is growing like a weed (which I think they do anyway!).

Hi All,

I'm so busy here at work today so I've decided to take a little break.

I'm drinking plenty of water and trying to get my mind set right!

I'm scheduled for my surgery on Feb 5th; I'm getting really excited.
