Cold Running

So this morning was the Northville 5K and it was cold!!!!  17 degrees with the wind chill make it 5!!!   It was cold but a fun morning.  I was hoping for a sub 26' run but came in at 26:10.  I guess there's always next year.
If you haven't ever done a 5K walk/run I HIGHLY recommend it.  I never ran until this time last year and now I'm always out running or biking.  It doesn't matter when you finish, just that you finished.  There were many people that were out there walking the course and I can't imagine a better way to spend the day than to be out on a race course enjoying the scenery.

I wish I would have read this sooner.........
I was out all day shopping and being so lazy and tired and *****ing about the cold.  If I had read what you did, maybe I wouldn't have been such a baby!

I personally think you're crazy, but it's awesome that you have come so far?

Question for you.....before you started running/training were you competitive or involved in sports in any way?  I think it's amazing that you have this new hobby/passion and it seems to be just what you were looking for.  Congrats!

I was never into sports in high school.  Of course I enjoyed playing basketball/football with friends but never anything organized.  I did enjoy biking and skiing starting in late middle school but once I got to college both of those activities pretty much ceased.  Looking back I do wish I had gotten into some type of organized sports.
This whole running thing started because I got my walking up to 5 miles/day and I figured if I wanted to reap more benefits I needed to go quicker, thus the running.
The crazy part -- yeah no arguments there.  My "small" band at school is 52 students.  My largest is 104, and my classroom was only built for about 45!!!!  So running in the freezing temperature is only one small affirmation that I am truly nuts!!!

Good job Sax! I ran the Detroit Stuffing Strut (the 5k portion of the turkey trot) on Thanksgiving morning. Gotta love the cold weather running. Get the blood flowing and enjoy the fun. Now I just need to start training for my next race I want to run (the half marathon in Dearborn) in April.

Good luck on that!!!  Depending on my school schedule I'm hoping to do the full there. If not I'll be finding another one somewhere else.
