GOOD SURGEONS IN METRO DETROIT
Let me jump on the Dr Zeni bandwagon. I had an issue the first night after surgery and I saw Dr Zeni checking on me several times between 1am and 4am. You will not find a better and more dedicated surgeon. Also, his program has been awarded a highly coverted Center of Excellence designation. His office staff is superb and his office director Paula can walk on water.
You didn't mention which surgery you are considering, but of all the surgeons mentioned above (and in your post), only Dr. Hares (mentioned by N_E_N_A) does the DS. The other surgeon in in the metro Detroit area that does the DS is Dr. Marek Lutrzykowski.
Although neither were my DS surgeon, both are highly regarded by their DS patients that post on the DS forum of OH. I believe all the Canadians from Ontario that have had the DS that I am familar with use Dr. Lutrzykowski. There is also a regular poster 8 years post-op from her DS that was a patient of Dr. Hares.

Highest Known Weight = 370# / 59.7 bmi @ 5'6"
Current Weight = 168# / 26.4 bmi : fluctuates 5# either way @ 5'7" / more than 90% EWL
Normal BMI (24.9) = 159#: would have to compromise my muscle mass to get here without plastics, so this is not a goal.

You might check out Dr. Pleatman, just outside of Detroit.
If you're self pay and looking to save money, he's doing the VSG for $11,700, including everything.
I had mine with him and was very pleased. I would recommend him for any laparoscopic abdominal surgery. He's somewhat easygoing and easy to talk with.His website:
