eating too much?
Hi Folks,
Got another question for you and thanks for all the helping me with this journey thus far.
I felt a pull the other night in my abdomen and felt nauseated afterward. My Surgeons office told me to go to the E.R. and get checked out. They did a CAT scan and said everything was fine. I might have torn a abdominal muscle but everything else checked out. Prior to that, I was eating pureed foods (2 weeks) post op. At the hospital, the surgery resident said that I could start eating regular food but to chew, chew, chew. Well, yesterday....I stopped at McDonalds and decided to try a cheeseburger, fully expecting to only eat 1/4-1/2 of it. I was able to eat the whole thing in about 20 minutes with no pain or discomfort. Is this normal? A week ago, I could only have a cup of soup...now I can eat a burger. I haven't had my first fill yet. I would just like to know if others can eat the same amount? Thanks for any info.

After my sister had her lap band done she was able to eat more than she thought too, but after that first fill, things changed, quickly....
I hope that your pain goes away and that things settle down for ya :)
Take care

Can't help you with the lap-band specific but I know it's possible to eat around any of our WLS options. We go through these procedures to get a new lease on life and to learn better habits. Use this time to learn new eating habits. For most of us it was the fast food life style that led us to where we are/were. Take this honeymoon time and use it learn good eating.
Sorry to jump on you on this but it was probably about 8 months post-op before I tried fast-food and it was only because I had no other food choices at the time. There's plenty of healthy choices to be made at most of the places and a cheeseburger isn't the worse decision.
good luck and glad to hear that everything was fine

Thanks Sax,
You are so right. I've always been one to test the waters...most times to a fault. I will heed your advice. I don't want to screw things up but I also want to enjoy some things but just less of them. Like I said, I thought I would only be able to take a few bites and it would be enough. I did receive a reply from this site telling me that after my first fill, things will change dramatically.
Thanks again for slapping my face! :)
