Has anyone seen the new show on TLC called Ruby?  its about a lady that weights 700lbs and she is trying to lose it with help from friends and doctors.

Just wanted to know what others are thinking about this show, I am really not sure.  Is she doing it for the FREE stuff she is getting for for the attention?

I know weight loss is hard but I would be damned if I would go on TV and let the entire world now I weighed 700lbs.

I had hard enough time weighting 305 (post op) and lied about my weight for years.  Now I am proud of my 150 pound weight loss.

I can only wish her the best.

You know, I saw the ads for the show....they were everywhere!  Shows like that, Biggest Loser, Big Medicine..etc. just aren't appealing to me at all.  I guess enough of my time is consumed with my own weight issues that I don't want to hear about anyone else's.

Maybe she did it so she would have to be accountable.  If the world is watching you really can't go through the drive thru 3 times a day without someone noticing.

What I do think is sad about these shows is they won't really change the general public's opinion about obese people.  Those that don't have a weight issue will probably always feel that if you just quit eating your problem will be solved.  It's a shame.

I love Ruby.  She was approaced by Brittney Daniel (the pretty girl who was in the movie Joe Dirt) to do the show to get her life back on track.

She don't weight 700lbs, she weighs around 500.  She may not pay for the stuff she gets but she certainly inspired many people including myself.

Knowing that she can put her bootie on a harley and show the world that she is a HUMAN BEING and not just a number means something..... it shows courage and a life that is worth saving, no matter if the stuff she gets is free or not.

I enjoyed the show where she got her bootie on the Harley.   After all the other depressing shows on large people who just lay in bed and do nothing, its nice to show someone who is large and active.

I think she started out at 473.  I enjoy watching because her stuggle are real.  Food is an addition for alot of us and that is why we are here.  Some days it is a constant struggle.  I wi**** would go a bit more indepth.  I liked the first show it was a hour long, and the others are only 30 minutes, and you don't get to see alot.

I am a big fan of Biggest loser also, and I wish they would show things like calories consumed and calories burned on average for the contestants.  I read somewhere that they spend 6-8 hours a day in the gym, which is very unrealistic for the rest of us, but it would get some good habits developed.

Pam,
I love the Biggest Loser as well BUT I heard the mom from MI had to gain weight to be on the show.  The daughter was ok.   This I think was very unfair to the people that really need the help.  The mom is now off and the daughter is doing great.  I wish her the best.

Christina,

I was watching Oprah and she said Ruby at one time was 700.  I give her credit for going on TV and telling people her story.  If I had guts I would do the same.

I can wish her only the best.
