OT: Please help! (Grand Rapids people)

So, I need everyone's help, with ideas, and possibly more.

Background Story:   I have 2 cats, and currently live in an apartment that doesnt allow pets (naughty, I know).  Well, they found out, and I have until FRIDAY - like 2 days from now - to either get rid of them, or get evicted!!

We are trying to find a temporary home for them, so if you live in the Grand Rapids area (particularly Wyoming), and would be interested in fostering an 8 month old kitten and a 1.5 year old cat (both females, older one is fixed, both have claws and will keep them), let me know.

More importantly, if you know anyone who would be interested in moving into a nice 2 bedroom apartment on the Wyoming/Grandville border, let me know.  We pay $485/mo in rent, and all utilities are included, except electric.  It is a GREAT DEAL!  Our lease doesn't run out until May, so if we want to move somewhere cat-friendly, we either have to pay double rent, or get someone to move in.   If you are in need of an apartment, please let me know.  Or if you know anyone who does.

Or, if you have any ideas on how I can get the word out on the apartment, that would help too.
I just don't want to have to get rid of my cats.  Or get evicted.

Thanks for all of your help.

I am so sorry that you are having these difficulties.  You might want to check out listing your place as a sublet on Craigs List.  But check out with your landlord that you can sublet first.

Look up local animal rescues and tell them your situation. The rescue I work for takes temp. animals. I don't live in your area sorry but thought I could suggest something

Some news for you:  They cannot evict you without taking you to court, I only mention this because it will give you some extra time to get rid of the cats.   By the time they file the papers and you get them could be an extra week or two.  Then if you do happen to go to court you can simply state that the cats are gone and then apologize.

I would look at your local animal shelter to see if they know of any rescues, or you can go to petfinder.com to look up rescues.  I know its hard, we had to give up our dog that we had for 3 years to move into a non-pet friendly apt. complex, it plain sucks....

My best to you...

Christina

There's a good rescue called Reuben's Room ... it's run by my former cat sitter, Jeanine Buckner; she might be able to help you foster the cats. I'd take them but I already have three cats and just can't handle anymore in my little condo. I was trying to see if I could find her number but I don't have her card on me. Anyway, she might foster the cats for you for awhile.

If you're looking for a cat-friendly apartment complex, try Beckwith Place Apartments on the Northeast Side. They let you have two cats, but you have to have them fixed and declawed.
