My ex mother in-law passed away this past Saturday due to complications with her pancreas and on Sunday late afternoon, while planning her funeral, my ex father in-law suffered a major heart attack and passed away yesterday.  My oldest son, Timothy was hunting with his father for the weekend and witnessed grandpa's heart attack full course. It has been a very tragic time for our family. For those who don't know me or my past, Troy and I went through a very nasty divorce recently and tensions have been really high with his family and the deaths of these two very important people in our lives. Last night at my mother in-laws showing, my children and I were blasted by Troy and some of his family members for attending, even though we had the blessing of the step family to be there. It was a horriffic experience for myself and my children and we are now in the recovery proces and now grieving their grandfather. Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers as we all need them.

Dear Susan:
I am so sorry for your loss.  Not only are you grieving your ex-inlaws, but your children are grieving as well.
I pray God will give you comfort in this sad time.

Perhaps you will have to tolerate your ex's behavior during this time.....remember he has just lost both his mother and his father.....I know it was a bad scene especially for your children, but try to explain to them that their Dad was hurting and lashed out without thinking of the hurt he was causing.  Know that we all care about you and are holding you close in our hearts.

Sending hugs and prayers,
Pat R.

I am so sorry for you and your children.  Funerals can bring out the absolute worst in people, and it is so sad that you and your children had to be subjected to abuse.  Try to be the better people and rise above it, but don't put yourself back in positions where you can be abused.  Your parents-in-law know that you and the kids loved them whether you show up at the funeral or not.

And shame on your ex and his family.

First I am so sorry for all of your losses.  Second.. try to love your ex and your children through it even though it is hard due to the divorce.  I am sure that he is in just complete anguish and such severe trauma right now so emotions are beyond high.  I will be keeping all of you in my prayers that God is able to unite you all in this time of need.

Hugs..

Oh Susan, honey. I am so sorry your kids have to go through this. We adults are better equiped (sometimes) but the kids... Man, oh man my heart goes out to them.

The best you can do is stay strong and show love even when you want nothing more than to lash out. Be strong and know you can come here and be amoung friends and rail all you want about the inequities odf this situation and your ex's behavior. BUT keep that away from the kids. Their father is doing a fine enough job of showing them ugly. Don't buy into it.

Hugs.. A million hugs to you and the kids.
