pain/stitch under shoulder blade?
Hi Gang, here I am one week post op and see the Doctor tomorrow for my first visit. Does anyone experience some pain or an unpleasant feeling after eating. I can now eat about 3/4 can of soup in 40 minutes...is this too much too soon? I will ask my Physician tomorrow but any input is really appreciated since I have NO Idea what to expect. Thanks!
Hi there... I am 3 weeks out and yes I got the funny "i don't like this feeling" feeling after I eat, But it honestly has gotten better almost everyday. At first it was horrible, but now its not so bad, still get the feeling but it goes away quicker and I don't get it as often. I noticed that I get the pain when I am getting to the full point, then I stop and wait for it to go away. If its still there after a few minutes, then I am full. If it goes away quickly then I had something "stuck" and can literally feel it go through. (its an odd feeling that is sure)
Congrats and welcome to the losers bench by the way...

Thanks for getting back with me Kev. I ended up in the E.R. the other day. Felt a strange pull under my breast bone and was nauseated. The thought of food was enough to make my stomach flip. Called the Surgeon's office, was told to go to the E.R. Once there they did a CAT scan and said that everything was in position. They said I might have torn an abdominal muscle but the lap band was fine. The following day...the pain that I have had for a week was gone and it seems like I can eat a lot more than before this episode that landed me at the hospital. The surgery resident told me to start eating whatever I like but to chew it well. Prior to that, I was eating pureed food since the surgery (2 weeks ago). I decided to stop at McDonalds and try a burger. I expected it not to go down and if it did, to only be able to eat a small portion of it. I was able to eat the whole burger in 20 minutes with no discomfort. Is this normal? I haven't had my first fill yet, it just seems odd to me to go from a cup of soup to a burger in one day and be able to tolerate it. Any words of wisdom is greatly appreciated.
Happy Turkey Day!

Larry,
Good you are doing better. As for lap band I'm out of my element. Thaee are folks on here who have had it and maybe they can point you in the right direction. I would imagine your guess was correct and after your fill things will change. Do chew and chew and learn to eat slow. I know those are the common threads between RNY and banding but after that I'm ata loss.
Good luck and and good loss.
