HAP HMO sleep apnea question
hi all.. i finally go the results from my sleep apnea study-- stopped breathing 380 times! yikes, no wonder i'm sleepy all the time.. my question is this.. i was denied prior to having the study because they needed that info- on the denial it said is the sleep apnea controlled with a cpap... i now have the cpap and it does help- is it being "controlled" a good thing in terms of being approved or a bad thing? My pulmonary dr said they won't do the surgery if it is not "under control" just wondering what you all have to say.. thank you so much.. i am going back to my pcp dr this friday am to meet with her about resubmitting my info.. any suggestions of what to include? thanks so much.. kate
Hi,
You having OSA and CPAP is going to help you get the surgery. Most Surgeons wants you to have your CPAP after surgery due to the anesthesia and how relaxed you would be and your apnea would be worst or higher because of that. So if you were denied because of not having a sleep study..... you will be aproved and well on your way. Congrats.
