Tingling and mix-in question

This first part may be a little TMI for some of you, so move along if ya wish....

TMI QUESTION: Is there a reason that ONLY since I came home from the hospital that when I sit on the potty (and only the Potty) that my legs go numb?  As soon as I start to get up, the tingly feeling goes away.  I was thinking maybe it was the hospital bed and a pinched nerve but it don't do it when I am on a regular chair or anything else, so I am sort of lost..... any ideas?

The mix-in question is this... I am getting regular oatmeal and wanted to know what sort of mix-ins I can use, for oatmeal and other things. I would normally do honey, but now that is a no no.... any thoughts on that??

Thanks

I'm not too sure what causes your tingling but I do have an oatmeal recipe.  Instead of stuff to mix in I make pancakes with oatmeal that are great!  And they freeze well too.

COTTAGE CHEESE PANCAKES

ingredients

2 eggs or 1/2c eggbeaters

1/2 c lowfat cottage cheese

1 package Weight Control oatmeal

directions

Put all the ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth.

Lightly spray skillet and place over low heat. When the skillet is

hot, spoon the batter onto the skillet and coo****il it starts

bubbling and has set up, flip and coo****il golden brown.

Makes about 4 pancakes. Serve with sf syrup or sf fruit spread.

Pancakes freeze well.

servings

1-2

comments and notes

Each serving has about 27 grams of protein 310 cal. If using

eggbeaters 270cal.

This sounds AMAZING! Though I hate cottage cheese, I am sure I can deal with it..... That will be one of the very first "pancakes" I will make, Thanks!!!

I find that my bum seems numb easier. Its not that it is falling asleep, but it feels numb. I think it may be because I dont have as much cushion there as I use to.

This is just my opinion. Not sure what else it could be.

That does make sense... But I am still "chubby in the bubby", Since surgery was only 5 days ago, I am not sure what it is.... but now I warned about lack of cushion later on BTW, Congrats on the loss

You can use the sf coffee syrups or coffee mate.  I get my syrups at Cost Plus in Ann Arbor, but I know that is kind of a drive for you.

I make my kids regular steel-cut oats and mix in natural peanut butter and sf jelly.  It's pretty good!  They also have sf apple butter at Meijer, mix that in with some cinnamon and a little splenda...yum.

I used to love CoCo Wheats when I was a kid.  Now I mix in sf hot cocoa mix and a little milk in to my oatmeal.  Not quite the same, but pretty good.  Oh yeah, if you put a little peanut butter into that it tastes like one of those chocolate peanut butter no-bake cookies.

I JUST ate thinned out Coco Wheats  (with soy milk and splena)  :)  I still love them!!!

Thanks for the SF coffee syrups, I was wondering and couldn't figure it out what to use, I am sure that once I can eat regular foods it will become second nature to just "make the right thing" .

I am gonna have to try almost all of your ideas here. I love the choc. peanut butter no bakes, so that will be a definate one to try...

Thanks Brenda !!

When I got home from the hospital, my left leg would go numb if I kept it still for 10 min or more.  Tingly and numb -- it drove me crazy!  I asked my surgeon about it at my 2 week appt a few days ago, and he said that it is possible that I was positioned funny on the operating table, and pinched a nerve.  It is 98% gone now, so I am no longer worried.

As for the toilet thing, the other day, both of my legs fell asleep while I was on it.  But that would happen to me before surgery, so I dunno.  I think that being in that position cuts circulation off, and they fall asleep.  I wouldn't worry too much about it, but go ahead and ask your doc. at your next appt.

Hope that helps!

Oatmeal question - I mix Brown Sugar Splenda and cinnamon into my oatmeal most days.  The brown sugar Splenda does have real brown sugar in it, so you can always just use regular Splenda if you wish.  I like it either way, but a little more flavor the first way.

Like someone mentioned, it could be a pinched nerve. I had one, and was tingling for about 6 months after my surgery, but it has gone away now.
