Did anyone have BCN-HMO and have Surgery

I have received a ton of great and honest advise in the last 3 days...I really want to speak to someone who had the surgery and had BCN-HMO.....ANYONE?

Haven't had surgery yet, but am working on it - just finished month four of my 6 mos "supervised diet".  I have UM-Premier Care, which is BCN HMO.  I (hopefully) have the hoops identified and several good docs behind me also making sure that we know what BCN wants (although it's continually changing).  If I can help with your questions, I'm happy to!

The only way to find out for 100% sure that your insurance company covers the surgery and what you need to do for approval ... is to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask. Find out all the different surgeries that are covered and find out the exact criteria for coverage.  Then get that list mailed to you so you have it in writing and you can use it as a checklist for all the stuff you have to do.  

Every insurance policy is different.  Even if someone has the same insurance company, each employer creates and negotiates their own policy.

I have BCN and had surgery on 4/27/07.  I had to do two written appeals and had a face to face appeal in Southfield.  It was completely worth it.  Don't give up ever!! That's what they want you to do.
