Not a newbie...need some suggestions...

I've not had this problem in QUITE sometime.  But I have something stuck.  I ate turkey breast filets last night (ya know the thin cut turkey breast), a few bites of corn and some spinach.  Well, the spinach was the last thing I ate and I woke up at 4AM and threw up twice....all spinach.  I haven't been able to eat anything other than to nibble on a saltine.  I am now drinking green tea, hoping the warm liquid will "ease" whatever is stuck.  Normally, the few times I've had something stuck this badly, it passes on it's own, over time.  Which is what I figured would happen as I slept last night.  I've never had it be stuck all night and into the next day.  I'm assuming it's turkey, but I guess I could be wrong, but the only thing that came up was spinach.  Not even the pills I take at bedtime, which was A CHORE last night.  I thought that in and of itself was going to make me puke.  but wehn it didn't, I just went to sleep, uncomfortably and figured that the food would pass.  It hasn't.  I need to eat something.  This is not good.  Any suggestions?

I know I have the option to call my surgeon/go to dr.  I have another medical thing going on which is making me hope to pass this on my own without medical intervention. That's why I'm asking for your suggestions and what has worked for you.  Thanks.  Tina

Thanks!  I think I got it!  Normally, when I have something that's stubborn to go down, I drink warm tea, but last night and this AM, it wasn't helping.  However, In the past couple hours, Ive had about 3 or so cups of decaf green tea and I think things went down.  I was able to eat about 1/2 a PBJ.  So....that's good.  UGH....I've never had anything stuck this badly.

Even three years post-op, old habits die hard.  I think I ate too fast.  Let myself get to hungry....

All I got to say is, don't wait too long if these symptons don't go away.  Mine ended up being a bowel obstruction.  But you being able to eat 1/2 a sandwich is a good sign I think.  I couldn't even get down a SF popsicle.  Hope all is good for you now.

Oh, I know.  That's why I was getting worried.  When I couldn't eat or drink, yet this AM, I started to get kinda worried.  I was pretty miserable until about 12 or so...but the sandwich went down slowly....and I have felt much better this afternoon.  WHEW!

Well I'm glad you are feeling better.  I know it is not a good feeling at all.

I hate when I wait too long to eat and sconge it down like there was never going to be food again...I always get something stuck or eat to much and then why did I do that....I eat too fast and boy do I pay for it....

Glad you are better......

Sounds like everything is all better now. but I wanted to add what I do.  Whenever I have something stuck that's protein I chew up a few papaya enzyme pills -- I chew one every 4 or 5 minutes until things get unstuck.  It only works on meat, but they certainly do the trick.  I keep a pill case filled with them in my purse so they are always with me and there have been several times when they saved the day.
