Pasta Question

Ok all my WLS experts out there......I need an answer!

How come I get deathly ill from eating some shapes of pasta, but not others?

For lunch today I had a Lean Cuisine manicotti.  No problems.  Last week it was cheese tortillini with both homemade sauce and jarred sauce.  Again, no problem.
If I eat mostaccholi or spaghetti, I get totally sick and have to "get rid" of it .  Even some whole wheat makes me sick.

And here's the big question...........what is it about rice and/or pasta that can **** off the pouch?

You are lucky you can eat "some pasta"  I can't eat any without having terrible pain.  Rice and bread also give me big troubles.  I think they swell in my pouch and that's why I  have problems.

I am 5 years post-op and miss all that stuff, I check  with the dietitian and she really had no answer for me.

Best of luck,

Mine is a hit and miss also.  Sometimes I can eat spaghetti and sometimes it comes right back up.  I think my biggest problem is pasta slides right down your throat.  Not always something you have to chew.  I also tend to eat too much pasta at times.

My suggestion is with problem pasta, try eating it slower, with lots of sauce.  This helps lubricate it to pu**** in the pouch.  Measure it to make sure you are not taking too much.  Pasta swells in the stomach also, so you may think you are ok, but in 15 minutes, its barf city.

I guess I'm lucky! I can eat rice and pastas. I chew really well and make sure they are cooked really well done. I take small bites and don't eat a whole lot of it .
