I also got a call from my doc today and she said they found a 3 inch mass in my stomach wall on a liver c-scan... any ideas what that may be?

Just follow the directions on the appeal.   Be patient and persistant and you will get an approval.  There should be a reason why you were denied on the letter.  If you need further assistance, feel free to e-mail me, and I will give more help if needed.    Do not give up or get discouraged, just another step in the road to health.   Carol

Hi Scribbleckh,
Investigate WHY you were denied.  Is it because your employer has an exclusion or is it because you didn't meet one of the 'requirements'.   After that...take it from there..unfortunately..if it is an exclusion..there is not much you can do except...insurance open enrollment time is coming and investigate if there are other insurance options available to you to pick from.  I had HAP and it was excluded when I originally wanted the surgery.  I switched to M-Care (gone now) and was approved...so basically, if your employer gives you other insurance options..look into that.

If you were denied for other reasons, APPEAL.  YOU write a letter and have your PCP write a letter detailing other conditions you may have, etc.

Don't give up ;-).

My understanding from my doctor is that HAP is one of the insurace companies that is extremely difficult to get an approval from. After two years of denials and appeals, I switched insurance companies. Once I switched to BCBP I had an approval in less than two months. With HAP you have to be on a medically supervised diet for 1 year. The longest I was able to stay on their program was 6 months. They just don't get it. If I could stay on a program for a year, I wouldn't have needed surgery. Is there anyone out there that was actually approved by HAP.

hug Not sure about the mass. Did the doctor indicate any thoughts on it or refer you to a specialist who deals with that? Good luck!!
