Out of lurkdom to announce I HAVE A DATE!!!
Congratulations! Looks like you're finally on your way. Nov 4th will be here before you know it!
Take advantage of this time before your surgery to get into your new frame of mind. I found it helpful to work on getting my head in the game--working on my major issue of "head hunger," or mindless eating.
Although I am only 14 days postop, I think doing that really helped me. I was never a pop drinker, but a lot of people said this is the best time to wean yourself off of it, rather than cold turkey.
Stick around the OH boards & we'll be here to support you as you work on getting healthier!

Great news!
Start doing a little exercise now, if you don't already. It will help to have a routine already in place so when you're cleared to start up again you're ready to go.
Take lots of before pictures and measurements. Use this time to do tons of research online. It will be really helpful for you to make a file of tons of different recipe ideas for the different stages of eating....especially full liquid. Take in to consideration that you might want some variety. I wouldn't go buy a ton of stuff now, but just knowing that you have something to look at and choose from when you get home will make it easier.

Congratualtions on getting a surgery date. I'm sure you will be on cloud 9 for awhile. I'm just going through all the testing and paper work now but hoping to have a date in the next few months. I have been on the OH board for awhile now and have tons of informations, recipes, ect. I wish you all the best in your journey and can't wait to hear how your surgery goes.
All the Best

Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.

I was in the environmetal science program. I lived on campus and didn't make it up there too long. I missed my boyfriend. lol He is my husband now thankfully. I ended up transferring to Oakland University and commuting from my parents house. I live in the suburbs of Detroit, more specifically northern macomb county.
At least you didn't go back home for nothing lol. Ok I know where northern Macomb County is. My husband is a truck driver adn I go with him alot, he delivers a lot through out the Detriot area. You never know one day we can meet up for a coffee for something. Are you having your surgery done right in Detriot or in Royal Oaks? I know a few people that had theirs done a few years ago in Royal Oaks and we have a friend that lives in Rochester Hills. I love going to Birch Run for shopping lol

The hospital is St. John's Oakland which is in Madison Heights actually but right by Royal Oak. It is at 12 mile and Dequindre. I am actually in Lapeer county but very close to Macomb County. I am about 45 minutes from Birch Run. I haven't been there in a few years though. I usually wait for a good sale or clearance and go shopping around Lakeside mall. I am about 30 minutes from Rochester Hills. Yes maybe when we are both post op one day and sitting on the losers bench we can meet up.
