strange taste buds...

I am three weeks out and am having a difficult time finding things to eat because everything tastes odd.  Sweet drinks (Splenda) are WAY too sweet.  The only thing that tastes normal is V-8 juice. Do you think this is from the surgery?  If so, will it change?

I've heard lots of people complain about this.   I am 8 weeks out now and I think everything pretty much tastes normal again.

thanks for your answer.  I will be hopeful to get my tastebuds back.

Can you tell me how you got the weight loss ticker thing ???  I would like one.

I'm 5 weeks out, but my taste buds have definately changed. Pre-op I lived on a certain protein drink that I really liked....now it makes me gag. And, the fat-free, sugar-free yogurt that I couldn't force myself to tolerate pre-op I practically live on now, and that taste GREAT now. I find that I really LIKE most low-fat foods (except skim milk...gick), whereas pre-op I detested "diet" foods. I also like Quaker Oats instant oatmeal for "weight loss"....and I know pre-op it was disgusting to me. So, I am wondering if our taste buds have a preference for foods that we can tolerate, depending on our cir****tances (?) It would definately explain why babies who are lactose intolerant (like my daughter was) can suck down that bitterly nasty soy formula. Just a theory.....
