it has been a hard two weeks.....

I had the lap RNY on Aug 18, developed an abcess, back into the hospital for drainage of the abcess, and IV antibiotics.  Now at home, I have  PICC line (A long term IV access line) and a wound that needs to be packed twice a day.

Quite a two weeks.

I'm so sorry you've had to go through this!  I'm glad you're home though and hopefully all will go smoothly from here.  How long do they want to leave in the PICC line?

Hang in there - I'll be rooting for you!

I need the PICC for another  10 days.  I just wonder how long it will take for the abcess site to heal?  Just time will tell on  that....

yes, time will tell - but I'm hoping soon for you!  My mom had a biopsy on her breast that ended up absecessing - took about a week to heal/close after being drained/packed and the antibiotics started.

Get lots of sleep and hopefully recovery will be easy from here on out!

Sorry I do not know how to open a new thread but I have a question.
Are the rooms at Blodgett in the Bariactric unit private rooms or will I be sharing?
I guess it does not really matter that much but I am curious.

They are private rooms Judy.  You are up and walking quite a bit so you will still need a good robe and slippers.

Thank you very much for your reply.  I figured on taking a robe and slippers anyway just that getting up and going potty in the room and with my husband there most of the time I thought alittle privacy would be nice, but then I would enjoy company of a fellow wls person to share the ups and downs also.

Thats good because when you share a room, your husband probably wouldn't be allowed to stay. My boyfriend was at the hospital with me, and they made him sleep in the family waiting room because I had a roommate. He really didn't like it. Plus they woke me up a million times checking on my roommate, and she had not had wls, she was there for something else.
