6 days post op and pain free, but just not feeling "good"
Hey guys,
hopefully you can help me out. Yesterday was a GREAT day. No pain (aside from expected soreness and tenderness) and my family and I went shopping and did things together all day. Last night I did not sleep well, cold sweats and kept waking up.
This morning I have had no pain meds in 12 hours, and I am pain free, but I just dont feel "good". Not nautious or anything like that, but something is not right. Could this be that my body is not getting any nutrients from the liquid diet?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dan

I bet you're system is rebelling a little.
Remember to not chase the pain. Take the medication on a schedule.
Keep sipping water all day and walk.
Pain is a signal that something is wrong and the pain med won't stop that.
question - is the plumbing working? Have you moved your bowels? If not then you need to call Dr. Wood.

"Go sell crazy somewhere else; we're all stocked up here."
You just had major surgery. You are getting plenty of nutrients in your liquid diet. You said you went shopping and did things together all day, and that was probably a bit too much for 6 days post op. It is almost harder when we do not have pain, because pain is one thing we listen to in our body. Being that you are not having pain, it is important to listen to the other signals that your body is sending you. Fatique being one of them. "Not right" is another signal that your body is sending you to tell you not to overdo it. Anytime you have anesthesia it takes a good 2 weeks to get it out of your system. Be gentle with yourself, and balance your activity. Hope you are well. If you continue to get cold sweats and you are resting, check your temperature, and make sure you are not running a fever which would be a sign of infection. Take it easy. Carol
